UPDATED LIQUID RESTRICTIONS
Due to changes in EU Commission legislation, a temporary liquid restriction has been introduced.
From the 1st of September, passengers are not permitted to carry liquids, aerosols and gels in containers greater than 100ml in their cabin baggage.
All liquids, aerosols and gels must be stored in containers of 100ml or less.
There are special exceptions to the temporary liquid restrictions. These include essential medicines, special dietary requirements and baby food or milk.
At Shannon Airport, you do not need to place your 100ml liquids in plastic bags or remove them from your bag at security screening.
You can keep all your liquids and electronic items safely stored in your bag while passing through security screening.
The temporary restriction on liquids applies to cabin baggage only. There are no liquid restrictions for checked-in luggage. If you can, pack all your liquids into your checked-in luggage.

It’s best to keep your carry-on luggage to an absolute minimum. Try to pack as much as possible into your checked-in luggage.

At security screening, remove hoodies, cardigans, jackets, jumpers etc and place them in the tray. Don’t forget to remove everything from your pockets and place them in the tray. Light jewellery and glasses may be left on.

Q. What do you mean by liquids?
Some things are evidently liquid, like drinks and perfume. Others are less obvious, like gels, pastes, lotions and aerosols. Some examples of these are toothpastes, hair gels, face creams, liquid cosmetics, lip-gloss, deodorants and shaving foam.
Q. Can I bring bottled water through security?
Water that is in a container over 100ml is not permitted through security from the 1st of September 2024. Refillable water bottles must be emptied before entering the security screening area. The bottles can be refilled after security at one of our Hydration Stations.
Q. What are the liquid limits?
From the 1st of September 2024, only liquids in containers of 100ml or less are permitted. There is no restriction on how many containers of 100ml you can bring through security.
Q. Do I have to place liquids in a transparent plastic bag?
No. At Shannon Airport, you do not need to place your 100ml liquids in plastic bags or remove them from your cabin baggage.
Remember to check the liquid restrictions locally at each airport as part of your trip. You may be required to place your 100ml liquids in plastic bags when entering another airport as part of your trip such as a transit flight or on a return flight.
Q. Can I bring my medicine through security?
