“Beyond the Scars” is a Peace Museum proposal that reimagines architecture as a medium for healing, justice, and collective memory. The project emphasizes ethical material sourcing and labor transparency, aligning with the Design for Freedom movement’s call to eliminate forced labor from the building supply chain.
Rooted in narratives of conflict and resilience, the design creates spatial experiences that encourage reflection, dialogue, and inclusivity. Through the careful integration of light, landscape, and material honesty, the project seeks to provide a safe and transformative environment where communities can acknowledge past scars while envisioning a hopeful future.
This competition-winning work was recognized nationally by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and the Grace Farms Foundation for its innovative approach to combining design excellence with social and ethical responsibility.
