I am touched by the anger, the aggressiveness, the deep and cheap terror, the love -in and out of love! There must be a way I can make art for sensual love. Ero c, sexy, tender art full of terrible darkness but not sick. The people I show are fed by passive tensions and the roughness of their souls which inhabits passive bodies. No harm done. Triantafyllos Tranos, has always had an aesthe c fascina on on the physical proper es and op cal quali es of paper and raw canvas. Since 1991 he has been workingonpaperandcanvasofvarioussize, weightandquality Duringthenext10 years or so he worked furiously and produc vely on a series of big scale works. The character of those works, though based on his previous produc on, was proved to be highly experimental, self-referen al and construc vely self-sufficient. Despite the figura ve elements and the mul ple references of those elements to the physical world, the priority in the work is being given to the abstract. Thus, the work, that inten onally minimizes its means of produc on and its color vocabulary, could be considered abstract – amorphous art. The dynamic and powerful abili es of the painter to design and sketch the figura ve elements extracted from the physical world, create a graphic space of lines and forms. This createdspaceclasheswiththeEuclideanconcep onofthegeometricalspace. The end result of this clash has the powerful effect of a turbulent space of unrecognized shapes and forms. This amorphous space succeeds to create the illusionofadifferentrepresenta onalproposi onthatspinswithinitsownrules.
