Hungary passes anti-LGBTQ bill

by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer Hungary’s National Assembly approved new legislation on June 15 that would ban sharing information about sexual orientation or gender identity with minors. The vote was a lopsided 157-1. The bill was introduced by the rightwing Fidesz party, the ruling party associ-
ated with Prime Minister Viktor Orban. It also got support from the even more rightwing Jobbik party. All the opposition parties — badly outnumbered by Fidesz — boycotted the session in protest. “On this shameful day, the opposition’s place is not in the parliament but on the

Schenkman both revives centuries-old instruments with authentic repertoire and highlights today’s composers and performers from diverse backgrounds.
Schenkman has experience performing on the piano, fortepiano, harpsichord, and other traditional keyboard instruments. They are the artistic director, pianist, and harpsichordist for ensemble Byron Schenkman & Friends. Schenkman also served as a founding member and codirector of the Seattle Baroque Orchestra.
