Scott Thompson is still a kid in the hall, but his outlook on life – it doesn’t always get better, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy ruined our community, “the world isn’t kind to us” – is very much that of a grown-up who’s been Gay for a while. Thompson, 52, has been out publicly since his career launched in the ’80s with The Kids in the Hall, a sketch comedy show that helped push homosexuality into the mainstream with outrageously funny drag acts and monologues. During our recent chat, Thompson looked back at The Kids in the Hall and how it wouldn’t have existed without AIDS; offered a solution to the bullying problem

Seattle Rep goes to the dogs Lady Gaga to receive with revival of Sylvia Trevor Hero Award for Sylvia Seattle Repertory Theatre Through December 11 The Seattle Repertory Theatre has gone to the dogs. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The Rep’s latest, the third production of the fall season, is a spirited revival of A.R. Gurney’s incredibly popular comedy Sylvia. First produced in the mid 1990s, the New York production featured Sarah Jessica Parker just before television’s Sex And The City made her into a superstar. A Seattle Rep production in 1996-97 featured R. Hamilton Wright as the harried husband and Barbara Dirickson in the title role, a stray dog named Sylvia. The Rep insists it is one of the most Sylvia (the dog) loved Linda K. Morris in the show!

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBT and questioning young people under 24. Gaga and her mother recently started the Born This Way Foundation, which will focus on “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, antibullying, mentoring, and career development, and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change.” Gaga is scheduled to receive the Trevor Hero see gaga page 33
