Seattle’s exotic performance artists rally for Obama
American Idol alum talks about her acting debut, her Gay following, and (of course) Whitney
Burlesque sensation The Shanghai Pearl and her PNW Glitter PAC (that’s the Pacific Northwest Glitter Political Action Committee) will present “Burlesque for Barack,” a fundraiser for President Obama’s re-election campaign, on Friday, August 31, in the West Hall of the Oddfellows Building (915 E. Pine St.). Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30. The Shanghai Pearl told SGN that she and her fellow burlesque stars are raising money for Obama “because the possibility of Mitt Romney as our next president is a horrifying one.” The entertainers involved with the show believe entertainment and politics do match. “Money and politics shapes The Shanghai Pearl

SPARKLE Opens August 17 Whitney Houston’s starring role – the last before her tragic death earlier this year – isn’t the only reason Sparkle has Gay written all over it. There’s the flamboyant style of the ’60s, an all-girl singing group, and, well, the movie’s name.
