by Chris Azzopardi SGN Contributing Writer Matthew Morrison doesn’t mind being the Gayest straight man you know. The 32-yearold actor recently called being a member of a Gay boy band in the 2003 film Marci X the “Gayest thing” he’s done in his career.

And that’s saying a lot – he’s currently starring on Glee, playing hot choir-club head Mr. Schuester. His part on the musical-comedy hybrid follows years of Broadway work on shows like Hairspray and The Light in the Piazza, which earned him a Tony nomination. Now, after becoming a big deal and an even bigger teacher crush, Morrison ventures out on see morrison page 42

After 12 weeks and more than 100 contestants, Seattle has a new Pride Idol: Victor Cruz! Pride Idol is a citywide singing contest produced and presented by SO&P, Verizon Wireless, FUZE, Seattle’s Best Karaoke, and Seattle Gay News at Neighbours Nightclub (1509 Broadway). The weekly event was hosted by Gaysha Starr. To many people, all they know about Buck Brannaman is that he was the inspiration for both the book and the movie The Horse Whisperer. After watching the new documentary Buck, audiences will get a far more intimate feel for the soft-spoken cowboy. On the road for nine months a year, including regular stops in Washington, the relaxed everyman was excited about being in Seattle for the city’s annual film festival, eager to showcase the film as well as catch up with friends from throughout the state in a far more relaxed setting than your usual county fair or rodeo. “In the fall, I’m always over in Spanaway,” said Buck in his typically relaxed drawl. “That’s my last clinic of the year. A Tacoma native, she hasn’t played Seattle in three years and returns to perform at Dimitrou’s Jazz Alley from June

She’s also reaching back to country music, a genre that influenced her almost as much as jazz did, on her newest album, The Gathering.
