It is available for pre-sale on iTunes now and all pre- purchases will receive a free copy of Kristine W’s “Sweet Mercy Me.” “When I first sat down to write the album, I reflected on how ‘out there’ can mean so many different things to different people,” reflects Kristine from her Las Vegas ranch. “All around me, people were saying things like ‘I’ve gotta get this project out there,’ ‘I know the love of my life is out there,’ ‘My life’s true purpose is out there.’ It got me to thinking how so many of us are searching for what’s out there and putting ourselves out there in many ways.”

It’s been four years since the release of New & Number Ones, Kristine W’s explosive 13-track studio album that included re-edited versions of six of her classic songs. “Everything That I Got,” the first single from the album, reached #4 on Billboard’s dance chart. The second release, “So Close To Me,” topped off at #2 and the 2014 remake of “Love Come Home,” the album’s third release, climbed to #4.

The leukemia survivor (she celebrates 13 years in remission this year) actually counts surviving today’s music industry as her biggest feat in life. While others cowered in the melt down of the digital

revolution, Kristine launched her own music label and publishing company, producing her own songs and videos.

“Staying relevant as an artist has been a challenge,” she continues. “It’s important to keep up with other musicians out there sharing and creating today’s latest grooves. I’ve literally circled the planet to establish connections with the next generation of music makers and producers, many who I am lucky to have featured on the new album. Frankly, it has been a lot of work,” she laughs, “but I believe when fans hear it, they will agree its been worth it.”

Kristine W hails from Pasco, Washington. After winning titles as Miss Tri-Cities and Miss Washington and placing first in the talent competition at the Miss America pageant, she went on to pursue her educational and musical dreams in Las Vegas. There, she found success headlining her own show at the Las Vegas Hilton, winning several “Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year” awards and being officially sanctioned as the entertainer who performed more live shows at the Las Vegas Hilton than any other performer in its history, including Elvis.

The award led to June 28th being officially sanctioned Kristine W day in the state of Nevada.

She began recording pop and dance tracks in 1994. Her first track, “Feel What You Want” reached #1 and since then, Kristine W has had a steady flow of chart toppers. With 16 #1s to date, she ties Jennifer Lopez in the #7 position of artists with the most #1 Billboard Dance songs. She also holds the world’s record for Most Consecutive #1 Billboard Club Hits. She’s had nine, surpassing Madonna and Janet Jackson’s previously shared record of seven. Billboard even named Kristine W “Dance Music Artist of the Decade.”

The main question was the future of “I Am Cait.” Candis revealed that they purposely opened with the political debate and as we see in future episodes, Caitlyn’s views will also be transitioning. (“I Am Cait” won for Best Reality). I had to ask Cayne about the road trip, and she said the worst part was not being in full makeup!

John Giddings (“Secret Guide to Fabulous”) – Had to tell John about my Fab Podcast called “It’s FAB”!

Sarah Ellis (GLAAD Prez) – I had two questions for Sarah about GLAAD’s standings on two huge issues including

the Murder of Will Horton on “DAYS” [“The Days of Our Lives”] on the anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s murder.

She said they are working on it. Also I asked about what message will it send when the recipient of the 2014 Kolzak award, Laverne Cox, will be portraying a Transvestite in Fox’s “Rocky Horror.”

Ellis replied that Cox is a leader in the Trans community and respects her decision.

David Millbern and Olivia Harewood (“Modd Couples”) – Great to see pal, Millbern with the very funny, Harewood. I congratulated Millbern on the successful indie flick, Hush up, Sweet Charlotte and he boasted about his new show on HERE called “Modd Couples” and even wanted me and my BF to appear on the show!

Harry Shum, Jr (“Shadow Hunters”) – I totally had “Glee” on my mind as well as his beefcake photos, but that made me want to tune in to his new show on Freeform!

Peter Paige (“QAF,” “The Fosters”) – Confirmed the end of Jonnor on “The Fosters” but confirmed Jude has a new love in the new season. Also confirmed that the “QAF” [“Queer As Folk”] reboot is happening in the near future, but nothing yet.

Wilson Cruz (TV Icon) – Wilson said he misses working with Octavia Spencer on the “Red Band Society,” but excited about his Doc on LGBT TV coming soon.

Michael Sam (NFL Icon) – Sam still wants to play! So let him! He was also honored to be part of the Out to Win Doc that scored Big at the Film Fests in 2015-16.

Chamique Holdsclaw (WNBA Legend) – Chamique was there to promote her new Doc, Mind/Game, which debuted on Logo on May 3rd. I also learned she went to high school with Sue Bird, of The Seattle Storm!

Carmen Carrera (Super Model/ Rupaul’s Drag race) – Carrerra still longs to be the first Trans Victoria Secret Model!

Scott Turner Schofield (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) Scott started recurring on “The Bold and the Beautiful” last spring at the height of Maya’s Trans story.

I brought up that Chaz Bono made a cameo on the show last month and I asked if their paths crossed. Sadly, Turner Schofield wasn’t included in those scenes.

Perez Hilton (Gossip Legend) – Perez is back in Hollywood for good and I paid homage to him who opened the door to celebrity bloggers, like myself. I asked, has fatherhood mellowed him? He said, indeed it has!

Patricia Arquette (Oscar Winner) – Arquette was delighted to learn Boyhood was sold out during the 2014 SIFF, which garnered her her first acting award out of many for the role, and for the limited run. I also asked if “CSI: Cyber” is done for good and she replied, it may not be over yet!

Hart, Johnson comedy giants in otherwise forgettable Central Intelligence

by Sara Michelle Fetters SGN A&E Writer CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE Now playing Mild-mannered accountant Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart) never imagined just how much his life could change just from the accepting of a friend request from an old high school classmate on Facebook.

But when he reconnects with Bob Stone (Dwayne Johnson) everything in Calvin’s life suddenly gets thrown into a gigantic life-sized meat grinder. While 20 years ago he might have been an overweight loser mercilessly picked on by a number of the popular kids, now Bob is a muscular CIA operative who for some strange reasons needs his former classmate’s assistance.

More than that, he wants to reconnect with Calvin, looks up to him as some sort of big brother, an act of kindness two decades prior leading him to believe their friendship is far stronger than by all accounts it actually is.

The plot of the buddy action comedy Central Intelligence is as silly as one would probably expect it to be, especially when you take into account We’re the Millers and Dodgeball director Rawson Marshall Thurber is the person calling all the shots.

The script, written by Thurber, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen (both of “The Mindy Project”), is a hodgepodge of loosely connected vignettes that help shepherd a story of international terrorism, arms dealing and treason that’s as familiar as it is silly. The mechanics of it all are never particularly important, while the destination (Calvin and Bob’s high school reunion), is never in doubt. There’s not a lot in the way of mystery to any of this endeavor, so expecting a massive surprise to occur is nothing short of a pointless waste of time.

Yet Hart and Johnson, the latter in particular, somehow make sitting through this overlong meandering bit of absurdity remarkably easy to do, the pair showcasing an easygoing chemistry that’s consistently winning. As the majority of the movie revolves entirely around them reacting off of one another and figuring out how to navi-

Producer Daniel Nardicio will present the eclectic and electric Tony Award-winning performer Alan Cumming at Seattle’s Town Hall on Saturday, July 2nd at 8pm.

Cumming’s current national concert tour celebrates his acclaimed new album Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs from Yellow Sound Label. When Cumming performed this show at the album launch event at Carnegie Hall in February, Billboard called the evening “absolutely enchanting. The androgynous imp is both quiet and uproarious, adorable and sensual, flippant and emotional, otherworldly and inviting.”

Cumming is backed by his longtime musical director Lance Horne on piano, Eleanor Norton on cello, and Chris Jago on drums.

“Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs” premiered in Spring 2015 for a limited run at the iconic supper club Café Carlyle, where it was recorded live. The recording includes his singular interpretations of pop hits (Billy Joel’s “Goodnight Saigon,” Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb,” Rufus Wainwright’s “Dinner at Eight”), musical theater songs (“The Ladies Who Lunch” from Company,

gate any number of various travails they find themselves stranded dealing with, this is unquestionably a very good thing. Their initial reintroduction to one another at a local bar is a total hoot, while a rather long shootout inside Calvin’s workplace, is as funny as it is dynamically staged. There is a jovial irresponsibility to Hart and Johnson’s antics that’s charming, many of their antics getting me to laugh even when I wasn’t entirely sure I should have been doing so.

It is a whole lot of nonsense, on that point there isn’t a lot of room to maneuver. The script works in a circular fashion. Calvin meets up with Bob, is taken in by his jocular camaraderie, is shocked by his playfully violent abilities, is then subsequently warned to be wary of him by a seasoned, world-weary CIA supervisor (played with gritty tenacity by an underutilized Amy Ryan), and instantly promises to stay away from the guy only to find himself repeating the entire scenario all over again.

Through it all, Bob spins a yarn to Calvin involving stolen government secrets, a CIA mole and an international arms merchant, all of which sounds much too outlandish to be true; yet, if it is, it would likely mean unparalleled disaster for the United States military.

I’m finding it difficult to come up with anything substantive to add. Johnson, an undervalued comedian who has no problem making fun of his macho, imposingly masculine persona, is as funny here as he has ever been, making the most of each and every situation as they are presented. As for Hart, while he doesn’t do anything we haven’t seen before, he’s toned down just enough to make his antics palatable, never rising to the state of histrionic obnoxiousness that made him so annoying in films like Ride Along and The Wedding Ringer. Thurber directs with the same relaxed confidence he brought to his previous endeavors, while a steady string of unanticipated cameos does up the wow factor, all of which keeps things somewhat interesting for many of the film’s longish 114 minutes.

Personally, I am a little disappointed that Central Intelligence will likely find the audience and the box office that sum-

mertime genre compatriot The Nice Guys failed to generate back in May, Shane Black’s witty, freewheeling and gloriously vulgar buddy effort the far superior motion picture. Still, Hart and Johnson got me to laugh, their antics just ridiculous enough to keep me entertained. There’s fun to be

“You, You, You” from Kander & Ebb’s The Visit, “If Love Were All” by Noël Coward) and numbers that Cumming has collected from around the world (“Mother Glasgow” from Scotland, “La Complainte de la Butte” from France, “How Do Humans Live” from Germany). “Sappy Songs” was hailed as “an emotional firestorm, delivered passionately with tremendous theatrical authority” by The New York Times. Alan was lauded for his “wit, whimsy and powerful voice” by People.com, called “wonderfully dreamy” by the New York Post with songs that “ripple with emotion,” according to the New York Daily News. Time Out New York praised Cumming for “putting a completely fresh interpretive spin on familiar songs.” The album is produced by Michael Croiter and Lance Horne, with Daniel Nardicio serving as associate producer.

The tour, "Adele Live 2016," kicked off in February at Belfast's SSE Arena and has traveled through Europe since then, but lands in North America the first week of July for a sold-out slate that includes two Seattle performances. Fitz and the Tantrums August 20 Marymoor Park Who doesn't love a good party band?

For a good time call these folks, L.A.’s Fitz and the Tantrums, who released their third studio album, the self-titled follow-up to 2013’s More Than Just a Dream, on June 10. The leadoff single, "Handclap," is already a hit on radio stations across the country and the accompanying music video has collected over 1.5 million views on YouTube. The fun, sassy, six-piece unit returns to the Sound this summer with a show in Redmond, and where there's Fitz and the Tantrums there's a good bash waiting to happen.

Josh Groban August 23 Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery Josh Groban's upcoming performance at the majestic Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery sold out almost instantly when it was announced earlier this year. Diehard fans of the operatic pop vocalist wasted no time gobbling up tickets for his appearance at the Woodinville outdoor venue, expecting to hear everything from "You Raise Me Up" to "Believe" to February Song" (fingers crossed he sneaks "Oceano" onto the set list). Stages, an interpretation of 13 Broadway musical tunes, is Groban's latest release, which earned him a Grammy nomination last year.

Hall & Oates w/Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings September 9 White River Amphitheatre A curious pairing to be sure, but I'm not complaining. The ’70s-’80s duo Daryl Hall and John Oates are teaming up with funk-soul ensemble Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings for a summer roadshow that promises many opportunities to get down.

From "Maneater" and "Out of Touch" to "100 Days, 100 Nights" and "Got a Thing on My Mind," this concert already sounds amazing three months out. Hall & Oates, as they're more commonly known, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

Nick Jonas/Demi Lovato August 21 KeyArena These two. What's not to love about them, right? The youngest and hunkiest Jonas brother is balancing a music, acting, and modeling career, and quite honestly I don't care what he's selling, I'll buy it.

Last Year Was Complicated, released this month, is his third studio album and features the leadoff single "Close" with Tove Lo. Lovato has five studio albums under her belt, including 2015's Confident, and has a remarkable voice, as evidenced when she belted out a cover of Adele's "Hello" right here in Seattle last year. Together, they're a combo not to miss. Lucky for us, Jonas and Lovato are co-headlining the "Future Now" tour that makes a pit stop in Seattle in August with each artist performing their own set and possibly a collaboration or two.

Where you won't see Jonas and Lovato is in North Carolina, as they axed shows in both Charlotte and Raleigh in protest of the state's anti-LGBTQ bathroom law.

Sia September 29 KeyArena The chandelier singer is touring for the first time in five years, as part of her "Nostalgic for the Present Tour.” Having wowed fans at Coachella earlier this spring, the Australian performer is ready to conquer the rest of the world with songs from her own albums, such as "Titanium" and "Elastic Heart," and perhaps something she's written for a long list of other artists, including Rihanna and Beyoncé. The KeyArena date marks the launch of the North American leg of her tour, which includes stops in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Orlando, and many other cities. The concert will also include performances by special guests Miguel and AlunaGeorge.

Brandi Carlile August 23-24 Woodland Park Zoo Hometown girl Brandi Carlile earned her first Grammy nomination for her latest album, 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter, and continues to broaden her audience with sold-out concerts from coast to coast. The folksinger-songwriter will perform backto-back shows in front of familiar crowds at Woodland Park Zoo in August. Carlile, who has interviewed with Seattle Gay News, is also touring this summer with the Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Dawes; her ZooTunes concerts are headlining appearances with opening act

Maroon 5 October 11 KeyArena In another life, I want to return as Adam Levine's showerhead (or shower curtain, or bar of soap). I'm definitely not the only person who lusts after Maroon 5's sexy frontman, a longtime strong LGBTQ ally and outspoken Gay rights supporter. The group canceled two September concerts in North Carolina in protest of the state's controversial HB2 law, but all other dates on its "Maroon V Tour" are still on, including the October show in Seattle. M5 is still promoting 2014's V album, featuring the singles "Maps" and "Animals."

I also chat with Iconic, Randy Jones and newbie cutie, Noah Galvin (“The Real O’Neils”).

Here are the highlights: Laverne Cox (“OITNB,” Trans Super Star) – What advice would today's Laverne give the Laverne from 2 years ago?

"Fasten your seatbelts, it is going to be quite a ride!" Indeed it has.

Jason Biggs (“OITNB,” “American Pie”) – What is it with all the Larry-haters? Larry Needs Redemption. Season 4?

No. Season 5? Maybe.

Arts in Nature Festival

Music, Art & Performance at Seattle’s only campground The Arts in Nature Festival will return on August 20-21 at Camp Long.

The festival is an eclectic experience of music, art, poetry and performance in the woods of Seattle’s only campground.

The diverse lineup of artists includes music from indie rock to traditional Japanese folk, African dance, reggae, plus dance performance, poetry, and audio/ visual art installations in the Museum of Sound.

Highlights of the artist lineup include Seattle’s favorite Clinton Fearon with Boogie Brown Band, Dixie Gypsy Project, Seattle Art Song Society, Etienne Cakpo with Gansango Music & Dance group and Seattle Art Song Society, with many others rounding out the weekend

The “arts in nature” concept encourages artists and audience members to engage in active participation both with each other and with the natural landscape of Camp Long. Performances will be intimate, ambient, and acoustic in three different venues throughout the park: in a forested grove by the Pond, on the climbing Glacier, and at the Mainstage in the Meadow.

Camp Long’s rustic cabins will house the Museum of Sound where artists will take up residency for the weekend creating multidisciplinary installations blending sound, auditory arts, music and visual arts. The cabins meander through the forested perimeter of the park, and fes-

tival-goers will have the opportunity to enter and explore each cabin. Most of the cabins will have a hands-on component allowing attendees to interact with the artists' work. Installations include work

by Markel Uriu, Shannon Noel, Amaranta Ibarra-Sandys and poetry and spoken word by Imani Sims.

In addition to viewing performances and installations, festival-goers can participate in poetry workshops, art activities, costumed hikes through the forest, and a beer garden sponsored by Fremont Brewing.

The Arts in Nature Festival is an annual event hosted by Nature Consortium, a West Seattle-based nonprofit that connects people, arts, and nature. The Fes-

Jake Biondi on BOYSTOWN Season 5

The BOYSTOWN series has a fascinating history. It began as an online story released in installments, each ending with a cliffhanger that left readers wondering what would happen to their favorite characters. Enthusiastic BOYSTOWN fans from all over the world petitioned Biondi to release the installments more quickly; they simply couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. Overwhelmed by and grateful for the fans’ responses to the series, Biondi began to write more quickly and also began to publish the series in book format.

Like the first four books, BOYSTOWN Season Five is available at bookstores across the country as well at online at amazon.com, bn.com, and iTunes. The series is available in paperback, audio book, and all e-book formats. Readers may order autographed paperback copies of the books directly from BoystownTheSeries.com.

Biondi is working with two television producers who are interested in bringing the BOYSTOWN series to television. Biondi remains optimistic that fans all over the world will soon be able to watch their favorite BOYSTOWN characters in action on television. Zwierzynski said, “BOYSTOWN will make a fantastic TV series because it presents a diverse group of characters that appeal to a wide reading and viewing audience.” Divine Magazine wrote, “Biondi’s BOYSTOWN was birthed ready for prime time television.” And Gay Media Reviews stated, “This series could completely be made into a television series and I believe that it should be as when reading this series I actually felt that I was watching a drama TV series.”

I chatted with Jake about what is ahead: MK Scott: BOYSTOWN Season Five is finally here! What are some key moments in this book?

Jake Biondi: The fifth book picks up right

where BOYSTOWN Season Four left off – so the opening of the book is pretty key. Readers will discover the outcomes of the cliffhangers that ended Season Four and there are some surprises in store. At least two of the series’ central characters don’t survive, so readers may be shocked.

Other key moments in the fifth book include the characters enjoying some annual Chicago events like Pride and Market Days – as well as a double wedding event that serves as the book’s finale.

MK: What will make this different from the other four?

JB: I think the best word to describe this fifth book is “more.” It is the longest book in the series so far so it provides more of everything. There is definitely more character development. It’s important to me to never lose focus on the series’ core characters, so this book provides many opportunities for the characters to just hang out together and talk as friends. Of course, it wouldn’t be BOYSTOWN without drama and there is even more drama in this season than ever before. The twists and turns keep coming one right after another. Season Five is quite a roller coaster rides and I’m hoping fans will love it.

MK: Tell us about any new characters.

JB: BOYSTOWN Season Five introduces two great new characters – Camille Ciancio and Patrick Provenzano.

Fans have really reacted to the character of Rachel Carson, who is BOYSTOWN’s bad girl. Well, Camille will give Rachel a run for her money. From the moment they meet in the book, they go at each other and readers will have to stay tuned to see which woman comes out on top. And Patrick is a psychiatrist introduced to the series to help one of the main characters cope with his past.

But Patrick brings with him a shady past all his own...

MK: I know your dream is to get the series on TV. How is that going?

JB: It’s actually coming along great.
