Village Theatre is presenting a favorite of many high schools and colleges because it is about middle schoolers and eminently appropriate to stage for them. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee can be quite subversive, though, and a lot of fun for grown ups to watch as well.

Seattle’s own DAIPANbutoh Collective celebrates 10 years with their Seattle Butoh Festival 2019: “(Re)evolution” featuring workshops and performances starting this weekend and continuing in early November. DAIPAN is pleased to bring legacy butoh master Natsu Nakajima to Seattle. Natsu Nakajima (b. 1943 Sakhalin) has been one of the

most prominent figures in butoh dance since its foundation in Tokyo in the 1960s, and one of its foremost pioneers abroad. Training under both Hijikata and Ohno, Nakajima went on to establish her own dance company, Muteki-sha, in 1969. Natsu’s workshop will be held October 18, 19 and 20 – on Friday
