an Englishman’s low position on a hereditary fortune, the musical boasts quick costume changes and high laughs. As The 5th Avenue Theatre presents the Seattle debut of this musical hit, the Seattle Gay News spoke to one of its leading players. Eric Andrews-Katz: Who were your earliest influences in becoming a performer? Matt Leisy: I was a late bloomer. I was painfully shy as a kid, but I always loved to sing. I toured with the American Boychoir

By Miryam Gordon SGN A&E Writer TWISTER BEACH MARXIANO PRODUCTINS AND CAFÉ NORDO Through July 30 I had this imaginary scene in my head: Mark Siano and Opal Peachey were sitting around saying, “Hey, we have this giant hammerhead shark costume and this giant whale costume… Let’s write a mini-musi-

cal called Twister Beach for Café Nordo!” Turns out I had it backward. They actually decided to make enormous costumes of a hammerhead shark and a whale for their new musical dinner extravaganza! If you have any wish to see an enormously silly conversation about killing people between a hammerhead shark and a whale, while eating great and interesting food and watching various Frankie and Annette types cavort in bathing suits while preparing for a talent show, then Twister Beach is see TWISTER page 6
