He has accomplished himself as a musical theater actor, singer, librettist and now playwright. His works include the classic musicals: Cats, Les Miserables, and Grease, as well as some more contemporary shows like Martin Guerre, Footloose, King David or Urinetown, the musical. Aside from writing
the musical Summer of ‘42, Hunter Foster has now penned the new musical Jasper in Deadland. Eric Andrews-Katz: Who were your earliest influences in becoming a performer? Hunter Foster: I think the first person that I wanted to be was Harrison Ford. I grew up with Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark, and that sort of thing. Nubian Pride Productions held the 6th Annual Nubian Pride King & Queen Pageant, newly renamed The Ultimate People of Color Pageant April 18 at The Summit (on E Pike). The all-age’s event was attended by more than 100 people. The Ultimate People of Color Pageant is the longest running people of color pageant in Washington state. This year’s pageant was hosted by Honey Mahogany of “RuPauls Drag Race – Season 5” and Regine Dynasty, founder of Nubian Pride Productions. This year the pageant honored King Star K. Lebron and Queen Beyonce St. James, last year’s reigning King and Queen, with a performance by The Electronetts Drill and Drum Team. The newly crowned King and Queen for Nubian Pride are King Licious Dix (aka Roseanna Chillibean) and Queen Iyona No Black, respectively. The two will represent Nubian Pride for the coming year. Nubian Pride Productions was founded by Dennis Jimerson, also known as Regine Dynasty, in November 2009. His idea was
to create events for people from all walks of life to come together in a safe space and enjoy each other. Nubian Pride is a Gay-straight alliance (GSA) providing quality entertainment for the purpose of charitable giving and community building that strives to educate everyone on the legacy and achievements of African-American Heritage. Although they are a GSA organization, Nubian Pride does not limit their community service. Nubian Pride’s volunteerism and fund-raising benefits children’s organizations, cancer research, public health research and education and other organizations providing services to the local community. They serve people of all ages, races, genders, orientations, and faiths. According to Nubian Pride Production, “Our focus is making a positive difference for people in our local communities.
