scheduled to open show for

FAT JOE

When LatinRose won a local singing competition last year Seattle’s LGBTQ community fell in love with her. What’s not to love? She has a great voice, uses her time and talent to raise money and awareness for the LGBTQ community, loves her mother, and has that “I don’t take shit from nobody” attitude we all love in our DIVA’s. Although Seattle Pride Idol 2014 was the first time that many first got the chance to hear her sing, for LatinRose it was business as usual because if you are someone that follows your dreams the way she does – morning, noon and night – then you’re on top of your game every time the public sees you. And she’s never been more on top than she is right now. On April 28, LatinRose is scheduled to open for FAT JOE at Nectar Lounge (412 N. LatinRose will be opening up for FAT JOE April 28 36th St). – courtesy of LatinRose LatinRose told Seattle by Shaun Knittel Gay News she was offered the gig by her SGN Associate Editor older brother, Neema Khorrami. “We’ve been doing music together since LATINROSE I was 16-years-old,” she said. by Miryam Gordon SGN A&E Writer INTO THE WOODS STAGE RIGHT THEATRE RICHARD HUGO HOUSE Through April 25 STAGEright scheduled their production of Into the Woods at an opportune time for a small theater that has difficult limitations on reaching potential audience members. Having a new movie just out might make it

easier to get people interested in an original staging. And this staging, helmed by Matt Giles, is a stripped down, essentialized (is that a word?) production: magic is imaginary anyway, isn’t it? So everything about suspending your disbelief is just stretched a bit farther than usual, but we know how to do that, don’t we? This production is worth your stretching yourself. There are several outstanding young performers in it, quite a few making their Seattle area debut! Mallory King is see into the woods page 16

This new film observes creative director Raf Simons in 2011 as he prepares his first haute couture show for the House of Dior. The people of Seattle and dance lovers everywhere can be grateful that the Pacific Northwest Ballet has the multitude of resources needed to produce a gorgeous, virtuosic, and memorable version of this classic ballet. To see it for the first time is to experience a heart-lifting revelation, like going to Hawaii on your honeymoon; to see it again is like going to Hawaii on your anniversary – just as wonderful, but now with memories and reminiscences of earlier vissee SWAN lake page 16
