24 members of the Beijing Queer Chorus will be coming to the Greater Seattle area to perform a concert on Saturday, March 10, at the East Shore Unitarian Church (12700 SE 32nd St, Bellevue, WA 98005) sharing the program with local Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus vocal ensembles Captain Smartypants and Sensible Shoes. For a year as wide-open and eclectic as 2017 was from an awards perspective, with around 15 credible films competing for top prizes, now that the 90th annual Academy Awards are finally here predicting the winners feels oddly easy at this point. Outside of another La La Land / Moonlight Best Picture mix-up, easily one of the greatest

One of the things I’ve enjoyed about Seattle Opera over the years is how willing they are to try new things, either by collaborating with other opera companies to commission entirely new works, such as Florencia en el Amazonas by Daniel Catán and Amelia by Daron Hagen, or by supporting the new commissions of larger companies by bringing up-to-the-minute operas to Seattle such as next season’s

shapes. It’s all because this town apparently just loves good ol’ Will! There are plenty of contemporary plays opening this month as well. Plus, it’s another month filled with world premieres that no one has ever seen before except for YOU, when you go check them out!
