by Hannah Saunders SGN Contributing Writer On January 25, the King County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit and DNA Doe Project (DDP) identified one of the Green River Killer’s victims, Wendy Stephens, through the use of genetic genealogy. Back in 1983, the 14-year-old girl ran away from her home in Denver, Colorado,
and made her way to the Pacific Northwest. Just a year later, on March 21, 1984, her remains were found in a wooded area next to a Little League baseball field near SeaTac International Airport, when a groundskeeper’s dog returned home carrying a leg bone in its mouth. The young woman had been murdered a year prior to being found, and she
