by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer Flanked by survivors of campus sexual assaults, Washington’s senior US senator, Patty Murray, called on Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to drop her new Title IX rules and return to protecting students from sexual assault.

Title IX is the federal law that requires schools receiving money from the US government – almost all public and private schools in the US – to protect their students and staff from discrimination based on sex.

Lambda Legal: DOJ request for Supreme Court review on Transgender military ban is premature

SEATTLE (November 23, 2018) – The US Department of Justice (DOJ) today asked the US Supreme Court to review three preliminary federal district court rulings that have kept the Trump admin-

istration from implementing its discriminatory plan to prevent transgender people from serving in the US armed services.

WASHINGTON, DC (November 23, 2018) – The Trump administration filed petitions for cert before judgment today in three cases challenging Trump’s transgender military ban: Doe v. Trump, Stockman v. Trump, and Karnoski v. Trump. The National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), who represent plain-

tiffs in both Doe and Stockman and were the first to challenge the ban, characterized the filing as an unusual attempt by the administration to bypass the standard appeals process. There are four lawsuits in total challenging the transgender military ban, and
