Lesbian, Gay, Bi youth twice as likely to experience depression, new study finds

by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer The rate of depression among straight teens has fallen over the last two decades, but that for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi youth remained about the same. In fact, LGB youth are twice as likely to experience depression as their straight counterparts.
That’s the verdict of a new study from researchers at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics. The findings are based on data from 1999 through 2017, compiled by the Massa-

Amazon employees rebel against company’s attempt to buy City Council election

by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer About 200 Amazon employees rallied in downtown Seattle in front of the company’s iconic Spheres on October 24 to protest Amazon’s attempt to buy influence in Seattle city politics. On October 15 the marketing mega-cor-
poration announced it was dropping more than $1 million into Seattle City Council races – above and beyond the $450,000 it had already spent. The money went to Civic Alliance for a Sound Economy (CASE), the political arm of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce.
