Nine million added to group who should get treatment

by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer In new guidelines released at the end of September, the World Health Organization (WHO) expanded its recommendations on the use of antiretroviral drugs. All HIV-positive people should get antiretroviral therapy (ART), and all people at risk for HIV infection should get the same drugs as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) therapy, WHO said. “The first of these recommendations is based on evidence from clinical trials and observational studies released since 2013 showing that earlier use of ART results in better clinical outcomes for people living with HIV compared with delayed treat-

Davis recounted the meeting in a September 30 interview with ABC News. “I was crying. I had tears coming out of my eyes,” she said. “I’m just a nobody, so it was really humbling to think he would want to meet or know me.” “I put my hand out and he reached and see pope francis page 13
