by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer A “novel and potentially powerful” experimental HIV vaccine has been developed, the National Institutes for Health (NIH) announced in a June 4 article in the journal Nature Medicine.
The vaccine is reportedly based on a particularly vulnerable site on the HIV protein where antibodies bind to its surface. The vaccine has elicited antibodies in mice, guinea pigs, and monkeys and is said to be able to neutralize dozens of HIV strains

This was the first time the luncheon was held at the new Embassy Suites in Pioneer Square, which has a view of Century Link Field. Before the luncheon there was the annual Pride
Business Expo, featuring businesses in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors. by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer Only days after the US Supreme Court decision in the Masterpiece Cake Shop case – in which the high court found in favor of a baker who refused to make a cake for a Gay couple – an Arizona state appeals court
came to the opposite conclusion. Joanna Duka and Breanna Koski, owners of Brush & Nib Studio, acted illegally in refusing to make wedding invitations for a same-sex couple, the court found.

Seattle AIDS Memorial Pathway to celebrate groundbreaking Tuesday, June 19

by Tim Peter SGN Contributing Writer The Seattle AMP: AIDS Memorial Pathway (AMP) will break ground Tuesday, June 19, in conjunction with developer Gerding Edlen at the Seattle Capitol Hill Station on Broadway. To honor this important milestone, a celebration will be held on the site of the future public plaza, near
the intersection of Broadway and Denny from 5pm to 7pm. The event will feature food and drinks from local purveyors, live music and a pop-up farmers market. The event is hosted by project partners Gerding Edlen, Bentall Kennedy, Capitol Hill Housing, Sound Transit, Capitol Hill Champion, Capitol Hill Neighborhood Farmers Market and The AMP.
