Merry Christmas from the McCollum Family

Merry Christmas 2012 A Greeting from the McCollum Family Dear Family and Friends, We hope this letter finds you happy and healthy. 2012 has been a good year for us. Here are some of our highlights: Elle graduated from high school, having been homeschooled from beginning to end. She continues to enjoy her work in the daycare at Berean Education Center where she and Brenda have both been employed since the fall of 2011. Connor is excited by three big events for him this year. First was that he got accepted at Dakota Country Technical College. This means that his final two years of high school are also his first two years of college and are paid for by the State of Minnesota. Second was that he got his driver’s license so he can get himself to and from school. Third was that on his 17th birthday, he got a job at Sears and it is located right between home and school. After spending a year at a charter school, Ian and Lily are glad to be home schooling again. They are working hard and enjoy their time with Brenda. What a blessing to be able to say that our 14 year old son and 12 year old daughter want to be with their mom! However, they also really enjoy the extra classes they take with a home school group on Thursdays and their time with friends.

After spending the past two years working with senior high girls at church, Brenda has switched to working with junior high on Wednesday evenings. It’s a big transition but one she is up for and it is truly appreciated by Lily! Brenda and I have also switched our Sunday mornings to be with the 20something class at church. We are table leaders and are enjoying the opportunity to enter into the lives of new friends who are younger than we are but older than our kids. Finally, the big news for me this year is that after six years of struggling with the pain of a “sprained foot, I was referred to a doctor who saw more than a sprain. As I write this letter to you, my foot is in a post-operative cast and filled with screws and plates. As I close this letter, let us remember together what Christmas is about: For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. Merry Christmas from the entire McCollum family, Mike
