Aside from this, Mackenzie was engaged to her fiancée, Kate, in late October, shortly after they closed on a historic home (built in 1925). Between house renovations, wedding planning, and chasing their three goofy cats, they are enjoying the (rampant) chaos and daily adventures.

Eryn Gerber, Ph.D., finished her Ph.D. in December. Just weeks later she moved to Aliso Viejo, CA to start work as a Biomechanics Associate at Exponent.

Sarah Mullinax, Ph.D., started a new job at Safety Partners as a consulting safety officer. She travels to biotech companies in the Boston area, helping them set up their EHS protocols and with safety trainings. She has always been interested in getting more into the regulatory side of scientific research.

Leila Joyce Seals, Ph.D., completed her Ph.D. in the fall of 2022. She will be a post-doctoral scholar at Pennsylvania State University, in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Her position is officially in the Department of Geosciences, and she will be researching and developing a contextual co-curriculum to support diversity and inclusion in PSU's geosciences field camp.

One Day. One KU. The university's 24-hour giving campaign, is February 16, 2023! During this day, Jayhawks near and far will come together to support the KU programs and priorities most meaningful to them.

For the 2023 campaign, our goal within Graduate Studies is to raise support for the Graduate Retention Fund. This fund provides economic resources to graduate students across KU when they are confronted with unexpected financial burdens. Our students continue to face unprecedented financial and emotional stress, and we are drawing on this fund now more than ever. It is not an overstatement to say that numerous students have been able to sustain their graduate studies in times of financial strain chiefly due to donor generosity enabling resources such as the Graduate Student Retention Fund. To learn more about the Graduate Retention Fund, visit https://graduate.ku.edu/vps-graduate-retention-fund.

As an alumnus of the Self Graduate Fellowship and member of the Society of Self Fellows, please consider supporting Graduate Studies at KU on this day of giving. EveryONE counts and every gift – in whatever amount you can afford – makes us stronger and makes a true difference to our students.
