Types of Gears offered by KHK
There are many types of gears such as Spur Gears, Helical Gears, Gear Rack, Bevel Gear, Miter Gear, Worm Gears, Screw Gears, Internal Gears. These can be classified by looking at the position of axes such as parallel shafts, intersecting shafts and non-intersecting shafts. Also, we can classify into different type using material of gear, number of teeth, angles, module.
Spur Gear: Spur gears belong to the parallel shaft gear and are cylindrical gears with a tooth line which is straight and parallel to the shaft. Spur Gear are known for High Strength, abrasionresistant and compact. Spur gears are used in transmission, conveyor system, speed reducer, machine tools, Gear Pumps and motor.

Helical Gear: Helical Gear are used with Parallel Shaft similar to the spur gear helical gear have better teeth meshing than spur gear helical gears are used in high-speed applications. Having better teeth meshing it has larger contact ratios compared to spur gears, effective in reducing noise and vibration. Helical gears used in automotive transmission.

Gear Rack: Gear Rack convert the rotational motion into linear motion. Same size and shaped teeth cut at equal distance along straight rod. A gear rack is cylindrical gear with the radius of the pitch cylinder being infinite. By meshing with a cylindrical gear pinion. Gear rack is used in lifting mechanism, horizontal movement, positioning mechanism.
Bevel Gear: Bevel Gear are used to transmit force between two shaft which intersect at one point. In bevel gear there are two types of gear spiral gear and straight gear, Spiral gears teeth are curved spirally. These teeth contact each other gradually and smoothly from one end to another end. Straight bevel gear are cone-shaped gears which transmit motion between two intersecting shafts. Straight bevel gear has straight teeth pointing towards the apex of the cone.
Screw Gear: Screw gear are pair of same hand helical gears with the twist angle of 45degree on non-parallel, non-intersecting shafts. Screw gear available in four materials S45C, SUS303, CAC702 and MC nylon

Miter Gear: Miter gear are special class of bevel gear where shaft intersect at 90 degree with gear ratio of 1:1. Miter Gear are used to change the direction of transmission without changing speed.
Worm Gear: A Screw shape cut on a shaft is the worm, the mating gear is worm. Worm gear is known for the speed reduction. Worm gear offer speed ratios of 1:10 to 1:120. Worm wheel create low backlash and great rotational precision.

Internal Gear: Internal gear have tooth cut inside the cylinder and cones can paired with external gear. These internal gears can use in planetary gear drives. Internal gear has unique feature including popular type of internal gear which has low cost and suitable for many applications.
