A quiet line, a shift in perspective
Dear reader,
As we open the pages of this second volume, we carry with us the quiet joy of continuity the chance to keep building something meaningful, slow, and sincere.
In a world that often demands more noise, more speed, more everything, we remain committed to creating a space that offers the opposite: calm, clarity, and connection.
This issue deepens the conversation we began in Volume One. You’ll find reflections on presence, balance, and the everyday rituals that bring us back to ourselves. We explore self-worth not as a destination, but as a practice subtle, imperfect, and deeply human. Inside, there’s a new set of voices, gentle prompts, textures of thought. A short-list of things that comfort. A moodboard for softness. A reminder that beauty still lives in the quiet corners.
What you’ll find here was chosen with care, again to remind you that the simple things are often the most powerful, and that your own rhythm is always worth honoring.
Thank you for coming back. We’re so glad you’re here. The journey continues and it’s still yours.
Enjoy, The SLMW Team

Q: Hi Melissa! For those meeting you for the first time, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Hi! I’m Melissa I’m a clinical psychologist, writer, and mom of two very curious, very tech-savvy kids. I live just outside Chicago, where I spend my time talking to families, drinking too much tea, and reminding myself (daily) that balance is a moving target. Screens & Kids is my honest attempt at making sense of parenting in a world that changes by the scroll
Q: What inspired you to write Screens & Kids? Honestly? Confusion. I was navigating tech use with my own children and realized how little clear, judgment-free guidance there was out there. Everything felt extreme either total restriction or total chaos I wanted to create something in between: a guide that was helpful, human, and grounded in both research and real life.
Q: Your tone is both informative and really reassuring. How did you land on that voice? Because that’s what I needed as a parent. I don’t respond well to fear-based advice or guilt trips and I’m guessing most parents don’t either. I tried to write like I talk to the families in my practice: honest, kind, and practical This isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being present
Melissa’s voice is calm yet compelling a reminder that real connection starts with presence, not control Her message brings clarity to the chaos, showing us that balance is possible, even in a digital world
“This book isn’t about eliminating screens it’s about reclaiming presence in a world that rarely pauses.” FIND MELISSA’S BOOK HERE
Q: What’s one digital boundary you practice in your own home?
We keep phones out of the bedroom kids and adults. It’s a small boundary with a big impact. It gives us better sleep, more time for actual conversations, and just enough distance from the digital world to start and end our days with a bit more peace.
Q: When things feel out of balance, what helps you recalibrate?
I step away from the screen. Even a short walk, or sitting with a book instead of my phone, reminds me that there’s life beyond the scroll. I also remind myself that no moment is permanent chaos doesn’t mean failure. It just means it’s time to reset
Q: And finally, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to any parent feeling overwhelmed right now?
Start small You don’t have to overhaul your whole life overnight. One new habit, one conversation, one screen-free hour can make a real difference. And be gentle with yourself there’s no such thing as perfect parenting, only present parenting.

A pause. A breath. A return to yourself.
In a world that rarely slows down, five minutes can feel like nothing or everything. With the second volume of our podcast series, Five Minutes To, we return to the quiet space where clarity lives. This time, we turn inward. Toward emotion. Toward presence. Toward balance.
Five Minutes To: Emotional Balance is not about fixing yourself. It’s about meeting yourself exactly where you are, with no pressure to change or perform. In each short episode, we guide you through a gentle practice of awareness: noticing what’s happening within, naming it, and allowing it to soften.
We explore small rituals with big impact. How breath can shift energy How stillness can open space. How listening—truly listening to your own emotional rhythm can bring you back when the noise outside gets too loud.
There are no long meditations here. No lofty promises. Just five minutes of reconnection. Five minutes to remind you that balance isn’t something you find. It’s something you remember.
So press play.
Let the world keep spinning while you return to center.

THIS IS A MOOD WHERE COMFORT MEETS INTENTION, AND SOFTNESS BECOMES A FORM OF STRENGTH.
“This season, serenity speaks softly in pastels, and comfort takes center stage.”
Let’s explore the essence of soft living this season’s celebration of calm confidence and gentle strength.
It’s less about bold statements and more about the feeling of ease woven into every detail. Think flowing fabrics that move with you, warm neutral palettes, thoughtfully arranged spaces, and understated accents that whisper rather than shout.
The subtle charm of balletcore returns, now softened with luxurious textures, refined tailoring, and delicate blush tones that exude quiet sophistication. Alongside it, vintage academia makes a graceful comeback classic cuts, intellectual accessories, and timeless neutrals that invite mindfulness and purpose into everyday life.
“Delicacy holds power when embraced with intention.”
In homes and work nooks alike, warm minimalism is quietly rising. Natural textures like clay ceramics, unfinished wood, and gentle linen combine with sleek designs and gentle lighting to create spaces that feel both purposeful and inviting It’s where practicality meets calm, and comfort fuels concentration.
This movement celebrates harmony melding gentle elements with clean structure, simplicity with meaningful detail. Whether refreshing your wardrobe, your environment, or your everyday habits, now is the moment to embrace a style that’s understated, tactile, and quietly confident.
This month’ s pick, the Glow Flow Hyaluronic Serum, is the kind of product that supports that ritual beautifully. With its featherlight texture and deep hydration power, it locks in moisture and restores radiance without overwhelming your skin. It’ s perfect for every routine—whether you ’ re just starting out or refining your glow game.
Because your skin deserves the same attention you give to everything else. Start with care. Stay consistent. Glow naturally.
Taking care of your skin is more than a beauty habit—it’ s a moment of presence, a daily act of intention. In the middle of busy schedules and constant noise, choosing to slow down and care for yourself is a quiet form of self-respect. It’ s not just about how you look—it’ s about how you feel when you take time to nurture yourself.
Every edition, we turn the lens toward you our community of quiet tastemakers, creative souls, and everyday storytellers.
For June, we asked: what does a trend look like when it’s lived, not followed? The answers came in snapshots soft light, bold color, unexpected textures, and pieces that speak louder than labels. Each image you see here reflects someone’s way of saying this feels like me. These aren’t just photos. They’re mood boards of authenticity, captured in real time.
