IMPACT REPORT Seed Effect | Q4 2023

At Seed Effect, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to know Jesus and provide for their family with dignity. That’s why we’re committed to working in hard places and underserved communities like the refugee settlements of northern Uganda. 2023 brought much to celebrate! Our goal was to empower 17,500 new members. Together, we blew past this goal and reached 20,476 new members! Thank you for investing in this work to bring the hope of Jesus and economic empowerment to northern Uganda!

117% of 2023 new member goal reached! Since launching in northern Uganda in 2017, we’ve now grown to serve over 87,000 South Sudanese and Ugandan members across 8 branches! These members care for an estimated 435,000 children and have saved almost $10M, loaned over $6M and started thousands upon thousands of small businesses.

There are currently around 1 million South Sudanese refugees working to rebuild their lives in northern Uganda. To date, Seed Effect has reached over 43,000 refugee families, impacting just over 25% of the total refugee population in the region while also addressing the needs of the Ugandan host community. With support from partners like you, these members are sending their children to school, and providing medical care, shelter, and nutrition for their families.

A STORY OF RECONCILIATION Before joining Seed Effect, Pamela and her family faced many challenges, especially paying for food and school fees. Her husband was an alcoholic, unsupportive, and continually quarreling with them when he returned home from drinking. Pamela learned about Seed Effect during a church service and joined Apoka Poka Pee (“No Division: We are the Same”) Group.

In addition to saving, they also gathered for a Bible Study which explored restoring broken relationships. This helped strengthen Pamela’s faith and she began sharing the word of God to her family. Her husband accepted Jesus, stopped drinking, and became a supportive husband and father. Additionally, her family was impacted economically.

Through Seed Effect, I gained access to financial tools. By saving weekly and taking loans from my group, my finances have been boosted. I was able to use a loan start up a wholesale business center dealing in different products like silverfish, tomatoes, cabbage, cooking oil and others which bring financial returns. This helped in paying school fees and buying food. Also, my business helped save time for other community members. They no longer have to move far distances to source the items they need from another market.

Pamela’s family has been reconciled, her children are being cared for, and the community has been impacted as she’s gained access to these critical tools. Pamela shared that she is thankful for Seed Effect's impact on her life. And we are so grateful for your support in making this possible!
