Don’t forget to share your knowledge and experience with your friends around you! We are young leaders that should bring a positive impact to our society.

Throughout this whole year, it was never an easy pathway. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” This is how I truly felt after nine months of being a local president in JCI Tanjung Bunga. A very complicated yet exciting feeling that runs through my mind right now. JCI is really a good platform for us to learn and relearn. I appreciate I have this opportunity to make myself better.

I am excited about the journey ahead and the opportunities that lie in front of us. Together, we can overcome any challenges that come our way . I am honored to serve as your President and thank you for your unwavering support and just like my theme for this year- Let’s Do It!

YOUTH ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM

Business Idea Pitching Competition

Before we came out with the plan of this YEP I AM DA BOSS, we had conducted a few surveys. About 60% of teenagers are more interested in starting their own business instead of working a traditional job, according to a March 1 survey from Junior Achievement USA.

Also, according to the 2022 Government Budget Malaysia, there was a fund of a total RM150 million for young entrepreneurs. The inspiration for entrepreneurs mostly comes from social media in uencers and celebrities. So, it is undeniable that the importance of small business education plays an important role in supporting entrepreneurs of all ages. They need to seek a trusted mentor or experienced person to point them in the right direction.

The objective of YEP I AM DA BOSS is to increase the local job opportunities among youths, aged between 18-25 years old. This program also helps to develop leadership skills between JCI members. Through this business pitching competition, it helps to develop participants' enterprising spirit and self-starter mindset. Thus, participants are being exposed to a well-structured entrepreneurship program.

So, what is this YEP I AM DA BOSS all about? It is a program in which college students aged 18-25 years old are able to work out their business plan template and to do a presentation about their business goals in front of a group of experts & investors.

Our top 3 nalists were presenting their creative ideas on 19th August in Digital Penang. They actually came from Albukhary International University, Universiti Sains Malaysia & Han Chiang University College of Communication. And we were honored to have PYDC to be our supporting partners for this business pitching programme as well too. Indeed, it was a good experience for all JCI Tanjung Bunga members to conduct this YEP I AM DA BOSS and de nitely we will come back again next year!

WASTE TO WONDER

Turn waste to a handcraft item with “Patriotism” theme to increase go green awareness

In 2020, the recycling rate achieved was only 30.67% developed countries like Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan a target to increase the national recycling rate to Plan for Solid Waste Management.

Waste To Wonder is a project that was conducted during the year 2021- Kita Jaga Alam Sekitar. This program is to raise awareness among primary school students about the importance of reducing waste, promoting sustainable resource management, and protecting the environment. It also provides an opportunity for students to use their creativity and problem-solving skills by challenging them to create new items from recycled materials.

Our goal of the project is to inspire the primary school students aged 9-12 years old in Penang Island & mainland area to create a model or craft which is related to the theme of patriotism by using recyclable materials.

We were very thankful to have partners such as Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia, Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang and Moon Moon Art Centre to support us on this programme. We had sorted out the top 10 nalists for the creative artworks. And, the most important part was, we had participants from di erent races such as Malays, Chinese & Indians in this programme. This automatically promotes the unity of Malaysia. Well done WASTE TO WONDER! Let’s make our Earth cleaner & more beautiful!

JCI Tanjung Bunga had organised Hearbeat Saviour together with JCI George Town & JCI Perai at the end of August. As we all know, blood donations are essential for maintaining a steady supply for hospitals and clinics in our community. However, before donating, we need to receive a basic health check-up, which can help us to identify any potential health issues.

Sincerely thanks to the Gleneagles Hospital and the venue sponsor Island 88 in Tanjung Tokong. Not to forget our 15 booths which had been set up during the blood donation programme is carrying on- The RFS Partners, A Dental, Danai Medi-Wellness, BPI, Celcom Digi, Pusat Sumber Transplan Hospital Pulau

While the blood donation is going on, there is a MERDEKA colouring competition being held too. Children use their own creativity to colour the drawing template that has been given to them which ful ll the theme Malaysia. JCI Tanjung Bunga was honored to host this event as blood donation gives us a sense of ful llment that we are contributing to the well-being of others.
