"Brotherhood of men, transcends the sovereignty of life", it is remarkable how two chapters are celebrating their Sisterhood Pact's Silver Anniversary this year despite the distance, cultural difference and language barrier. It is truly an honor to have hosted our close friends from Japan during our recent anniversary celebration at Penang.

This edition's newsletter is to honor and document this historical moment between the two chapters.

I want to specifically thank the current and past leadership of these two fine local organization and may our friendship flows as long as the river goes.

The Beginning of A Long Friendship

JCI Kumamoto (Japan) and JCI Tanjung Bunga (Penang, Malaysia) JCI Kumamoto 1992 President Shigehumi Nishigsma and JCI Tanjung Bunga 1992 President Alex Beh Seong Leng first signed the Sisterhood Pact during the 1992 Asia Pacific Conference (ASPAC) at Kitakyushu, Japan.

The guests were served with delicious Nyonya cuisine and of course beers to celebrate this joyous occasion. Mid-way through, a simple ceremony were conducted beginning by remarks by the Organizing Chairlady Huey Min (2016 President), followed by President Eric and President Atsuo. Both Presidents and Guest of Honor later take part in a signing ceremony to commemorate our 25th Anniversary of Sisterhood Pact and an exchange of gift was conducted. The night concluded with a simple remark from Guest of Honor 1986 President JCI Sen. KK Hun sharing the history of our unique friendship.

JCI Sen. Ang Chin Boon brought a " Happi" h e received from the JCI Kumamoto delegation in 1 992, to the delight of President of Atsuo who immediately tried it on.
