MK2050

FOR CAST IRON MILLING – READY TO WEAR.

MK2050 is a new insert grade specially designed for milling cast irons with varying cutting data in both automotive (i.e. for engine blocks and cylinder heads) and general engineering applications. MK2050 works with and without coolant for all types of cast irons including nodular cast irons. Replacing MK2000 and – to some extent – MK3000, MK2050 has a newly developed high-hardness substrate for even and controlled wear, which guarantees long tool life and high application security.

TURBO 10 HELICAL CUTTERS PERFECT PROFILING AND CONTOURING. Turbo 10 has been added to Seco’s range of high-performance helical cutters, offering high feeds, large depth of cut and high metal removal rates in contouring and profiling applications. It can be used for slotting, pocketing and ramping as well as circular and helical milling. Helical Turbo 10 has better depth of cut capabilities than those of conventional square shoulder mills. The tool features insert pockets with improved precision and axial support, to minimise mismatch between insert levels. Inserts come in XOMX10T3 and XOEX10T3 versions with geometries giving low cutting forces. Helical Turbo 10 is available with Combimaster, Arbor, Seco-Capto, Weldon and Seco Weldon mounting systems.

TURBO 10 GEOMETRY EXPANSION FOR DIFFICULT TO MACHINE MATERIALS.

The 2011 launch of Turbo 10 for square shoulder milling is now followed by an insert range expansion that includes both direct pressed and ground insert alternatives. Direct pressed inserts get a larger radii range from 0.4 to 3.1 millimetre corner radii. The expansion of the ground insert range includes geometries for materials that are difficult to machine, such as aluminium, stainless steels, titanium alloys and other alloyed materials. The ground insert alternatives are available with radii ranging from 0.4 to 3.1 millimetre corner radii.

MINIMASTER PLUS ADDITIONS 速

NOW WITH HIGH FEED INSERTS.

Along with a few other improvements, the Minimaster Plus tool system has added a new line of inserts for highfeed machining to its collection of square shoulder, ball nose and multi-flute inserts. The high-feed inserts feature three flutes and are available in diameters from 10 to 16 millimetres. With an internal through coolant, best possible tool life is achieved as well as reliable chip evacuation. From now on all inserts will have a wrench tool grip, replacing the earlier hook key grip and the system has also been extended with shanks in cemented carbide for improved rigidity.

DISC MILLING CUTTER 335.25 WITH ADJUSTABLE CUTTING WIDTH.

Following the fixed pocket version, Seco’s 335.25 disc milling cutter is now released in a version adjustable in width. The cutting width can be adjusted with high precision from 21 to 26 millimetres with size 14 inserts. Cutters are available from diameter 125 to 315 millimetres with an optimised chip space and number of teeth to get a productive and reliable machining operation. All the inserts feature four cutting edges, optimised free cutting geometries and a built-in wiper flat. Together with a complete range of grades and corner radii, this allows the disc cutter to meet all application needs with high productivity at the best cost.

TGK1500 is a new grade for machining cast iron with Secoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Multi-Directional Turning system MDT featuring Duratomic coating technology. It is geared towards grooving and profiling of cast iron parts in many applications. Typical components are, for example, cylinder liners, impellers, housings, cam shafts and brake discs. This grade combined with the versatile MDT tools make it suitable for radial, axial and internal machining in a variety of cast irons, from the easiest grey cast irons to the most demanding high-alloyed ductile irons. The main benefits of TGK1500 are reliability combined with high productivity. TGK1500 is available in several chipbreakers, FT, MT and MP which range from 2 to 8 millimetres in cutting edge widths. 9


SCARFING SOLUTIONS OPTIMAL SUPPORT IN HEAVY MACHINING.

SCARFING INSERTS Seco offers a range of scarfing inserts with optimised designs for different materials and applications of pipes and tubes. They can be selected depending on: &  !  "  &   "      

   steel, high carbon steel and stainless steel & :  !

 @+!   "Q" U & V !    @+!   ""2) Seco provides two complete solutions for external scarfing: Negative and positive inserts. The negative inserts SNMX come in 15, 19 and 25 millimetres and three different geometries with radius options ranging

from 7 to 200 millimetres. Positive SDUX19 inserts have a radius range of 8 to 100 millimetres. Inserts are specifically effective and economical with the Seco optimised grades for soft materials. In addition Seco provides two solutions for internal scarfing: 1. Scarfing rings for pipes with internal diameters of 14 to 260 millimetres. 2. Tangential internal scarfing inserts for selected high speed applications

M6 â&#x20AC;&#x201C; the new, negative insert chipbreaker has been designed with the aim to reach higher ground with regards to better chip control, lower cutting forces, reliable wear behaviour and dependable strong edges â&#x20AC;&#x201C; simultaneously. These double-sided inserts available in a variety of inserts, shapes, share the same design with a wide positive protection chamfer, a positive rake and a wide groove to secure edge strength, low energy consumption and efficient chip evacuation. This chipbreaker geometry provides high resistance against chipping, crater wear and built-up edges which result in optimal tool life. DuratomicÂŽ grades, TP1500, TP2500 and TP3500 enhance productivity and life time of the cutting edges. When you add M6 to these versatile grades, it becomes easier to machine stainless steels, ferritic stainless steels and martensitic stainless steels. The wide working window of M6 overlaps its family members M5 and MR7 with comfortable margin. 11


THREADMASTER™ AND DRILLING THREADMASTER™ WITH CYLINDRICAL SHAFTS. Seco is now introducing a complete range of solid carbide threadmilling cutters with cylindrical shafts. All Threadmaster and Drilling Threadmaster products are now available with a fully cylindrial shaft. A cylindrical shaft gives you the possibillity to mount these tools in a Shrinkfit holder, a hydraulic holder or into the new high precision collet chuck EPB 5672. Using a Shrinkfit holder gives the best and most ridgid setup for a solid threadmilling cutter. It also minimises tool run-out. The Threadmaster Mini already exists with cylindrical shafts.

SECO-CAPTOâ&#x201E;˘ SNAP-TAP HOLDERS AND BORING BARS FOR TAPERED THREADS. ÂŽ

Seco is now extending the range of SecoCapto toolholders for Snap-Tap inserts size 27. The new holders are in size C5 and give the opportunity to use the 27-size Snap-Tap inserts together with Seco-Capto C5. The added Seco-Capto holders are available for both external and internal applications. Seco also introduces a new range member of boring bars for tapered threads. The new holders are provided in diameter 63 millimetres and are available for Snap-Tap inserts in size 22 and 27. These type of holders are primarily used when threading in the oilfield segment. The tapered boring bars give maximum rigidity when producing API-threads or similar. All holders are designed with the Seco HDclamping system. The most stable and rigid clamping system on the market. 13

CBN010 GRADE NOW EVEN TOUGHER AND MORE WEAR RESISTANT.

CBN010 is a new uncoated PCBN (Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride) grade mainly used for turning in hardened steels. It replaces CBN10 and CBN100 and has a more uniform microstructure with greater resistance to edge chipping, achieved by using newly developed manufacturing methods. Compared to its predecessors, CBN010 is tougher and has more wear resistance, resulting in increased reliability and tool life predictability. It is mainly intended for finishing and is available in four different insert formats: Solid, full face, tipped and multi-tipped formats, all including a number of wiper options.


PCBN CHIPBREAKER FOR IMPROVED CHIP CONTROL. Laser machining provides several benefits over conventional production technologies such as grinding; Laser technology meets the highest requirements regarding dimensional accuracy, geometrical precision and surface quality for the machining of intricate, three-dimensional geometries. These advantages and possibilities have led to a complex formed chipbreaker with â&#x20AC;&#x153;bumpsâ&#x20AC;? that would have been impossible to produce with any other production technology. This laser made chipbreaker gives you improved chip control leaving you with: & ]"!'  + |+ # & ` "  ! +   + & Z +   }   ~ "   reduce clean up time.

MAIN BENEFITS Normally in hard turning chip control is not a problem, chips generated during hard turning are brittle and will break even without a chipbreaker. If a conventional PCBN insert is used for machining softer (< 50 HRC) material, long uncut chips can be a problem. Secomaxâ&#x201E;˘ PCBN chipbreaker inserts are recommended in applications where improved chip control is demanded e.g. when removing the case hardened layer, when machining from hard to soft material or in internal machining applications where chip evacuation can be a problem. 15


JABROâ&#x201E;˘-HPM JHP951 30% HIGHER METAL REMOVAL RATE.

Secoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Jabro-HPM (high-performance machining) family of solid end mills welcomes two new members: JHP951 and JHP993. These are suitable for roughing applications such as full slotting with large axial cutting lengths (1.5 x Dc) and side milling in soft carbon and high alloy or high hardness steels as well as cast irons. JHP951, available in a diameter range from 3 to 25 millimetres with three to five teeth, is suitable for stable operating conditions. It has up to 30% higher material removal rate compared to the earlier JHP950, thanks to a curved helix, optimised number of teeth, uneven flute spacing and a special flute cavity design.

JABRO -HPM JHP993 FOR A SECURE ROUGHING PROCESS. ™

The new JHP993 is designed for complex roughing applications, for example unstable conditions when the workpiece is not completely solid or difficult to clamp. It comes in diameters from 4 to 25 millimetres with three to six teeth that, just like the shape of the flutes, are optimised for high-performance roughing. JHP993 is available with an internal “through” coolant channel that delivers significantly more coolant (30%) to the cutting zone compared to conventional coolant channels. This increases tool life and reduces the risk for uncontrolled wear, making it ideal for unmanned operations.

JABRO™ COMPOSITES - JC845 MACHINING LAMINATED CFRPs.

Seco’s new member in the Jabro™ Composites range dedicated for slotting and sidemilling of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) is specially designed to prevent and reduce delamination, pressure build up, and heat in the cutting zone. The 6% cobalt substrate results in excellent adhesion of the CVD DURA coating.

MAIN BENEFIT The combination of differential helix (left hand/right hand) and chipbreakers results in a small downward pressure on the workpiece guiding the vacuum clamping forces. The chipbreakers in the geometry result in several beneficial cutting/shearing conditions.

EPB 5672 HIGH PRECISION COLLET CHUCKS.

EPB 5672 is a new collet chuck system from Seco with a maximum radial run-out of only three microns. It offers two to three times the transmittable torque of previous collet chuck models, and even more than hydro-expanding chucks. Tools are fastened by tightening the nut with a dedicated torque roller wrench, which is an easy operation for the user. Due to its completely cylindrical shape (without any asymmetrical parts), EPB 5672 is suitable for high-speed machining that requires well-balanced tool assemblies. A chuck can be used with collets of different clamping diameters and for tool shank diameters from 1 to 20 millimetres. Moreover, sealed collets allow you to focus the coolant flow through the tool, without requiring an extra nut for the collet. 19

Further improvements have been made to the next generation of Secoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s exchangeable crown drills - Crownloc Plus. A proven geometry design of the crowns together, with a strong locking interface and wide polished flutes, gives the possibilities to drill various materials with an excellent chip evacuation and wear resistance. Moreover, it requires no regrinding or resetting. The new range is extended with 8xD drill bodies and multiple diameters in the range from 12.0 to 19.90 millimetres.

PCD DRILLS THE NEXT STEP FOR COMPOSITE MATERIALS.

With the new PCD drill ranges CX1 and CX2 Seco is taking the next step in the development of tools for machining composite materials. The new PCD technology improves tool life, productivity and hole quality (the special geometry prevents delamination and uncut fiber). This will give you high quality holes and reduce your machining time. The CX1 geometry reduces the need for extra work as delamination and uncut fiber is minimised, while the CX2 geometry is the best solution when drilling stacked material. The standard 30째 helix angle secures the

chip/dust evacuation. The sharpness and excellent dimensional tolerance, together with the cutting edges made of PCD, improve work piece quality in terms of surface finish and hole tolerances. The full potential and value of PCD drills over conventional drilling can be seen in enhanced productivity and tool life. For full cost efficiency, a reconditioning service is available for all Seco PCD tools. The CX1 and CX2 are available in stock standard range between 3,26 up to 9,53. AXIABOREâ&#x201E;˘ FINE BORING HEADS WITH SECO-CAPTOâ&#x201E;˘ MULTI-PURPOSE TOOLS. Both heads, one from ø2 to 20 millimetres, the second from ø6 to 108 millimetres, can be associated with different kinds of tools such as boring bars with interchangeable inserts, cylindrical shaped or reinforced extensions in carbide or aluminium, in short and long versions, equipped with an MPAâ&#x201E;˘ (Multi Purpose Adapter) bridge for large bore machining, over-turning operations, or grooving. JUMBO BRIDGE BARS NEXT GENERATION OF COOLANT DELIVERY.

The new generation of “Jumbo S” bridge bars feature coolant channels. The coolant flows from the spindle holder through the Jumbo and through the bridge bars to the cutting edges. This reliable and continuous coolant delivery positively influences the surface finish, chip flow and the insert life, while reducing thermal shocks. Other major improvements are that now the new “Jumbo S” allows higher cutting data thanks to an additional locking screw that increases the rigidity of the overall assembly.

PCA - PRODUCTIVITY AND COST ANALYSIS STAY IN CONTROL.

PCA is a very powerful tool that, among other things, enables customers to level out production on the shop floor, easily identify bottlenecks or constraints and stay in control of their production processes. $   }  ~ '   +  ;$>` presentation layer and can provide reports for multiple platforms, from desktop computers to tablets. PCA is performed by Seco representatives and all reports are available strictly through the service.
