Cutting speed vc (m/min) Classify the workpiece materials into a SMG to get a cutting speed recommendation based on: • Workpiece material • Insert width and grade • Feed rate For workpiece classification please see Seco Machining Navigator, catalogue Turning.

Grooving with Secomax CBN™ Grades and cutting data recommendations CBN is produced by sintering crystals of cubic boron nitride under extremely high pressure and high temperature. The result is a wear resistant composite with properties very close to diamond. The hot hardness, oxidation resistance and fracture toughness give CBN excellent edge retention and long tool life in the machining of hard ferrous materials, some cast irons and some superalloys. These physical properties give CBN superb performance when machining dry. • • • •

Full Face inserts are available for MDT in grades CBN010, CBN170 and CBN200 CBN010 is suitable for hard iron and superalloys CBN170 for machining of superalloys CBN200 for application in hard iron and cast material

For further information regarding machining with CBN please see Seco Machining Navigator, catalogue Turning 2012, pages 57-71.
