The two compulsory courses: Regulation: Ethics, Acceptance, Legitimacy The aims of the course are to enable the student to make well-considered judgments and assessments concerning the adequacy and legitimacy of regulation of the various types of technology related risks and drawbacks.

European Intellectual Property Law and Technology This course gives an introduction to intellectual property law, teaching students how technology can be protected with IP Law.

The elective courses: Contracts and ICT This course is about gaining insight in the process of drafting, evaluating and negotiating ICT contracts.

Cybercrime This course offers an overview of cybercrime; addressing concepts, methods, prevalence, substantive and procedural criminal law as well as governance of cybercrime.

Liability and The Internet On the basis of existing case law a comparative analysis is made of how the characteristics of the Internet influence traditional liability laws and how to cope with this influence..

Privacy and Data Protection This course explores the rights to privacy and data protection, considers the interests that privacy and data protection law protects and investigate to which extent it is successful in balancing those interest with other, potentially competing, personal and public interests.

International and European Regulation of Biotechnology This course concerns the scientific and socio-economic impacts of modern biotechnologies, including ethical approaches to human genetics, the European Union (EU) approach to risk regulation in the context of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the regulatory impacts of biotechnology patents.

Technology and Intellectual Property Rights Management This course is a follow up to the introductory IP course and will deal with the influence of technology on Intellectual Property Rights.

Climate Law Climate change is the single biggest environmental problem, caused by technological revolutions. This course deals with the legal instruments, laid down in the Kyoto Protocol under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, that are applied to reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses.

Electronic Commerce: European Legal Aspects During this course the student gains knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues in the field of law and electronic commerce and can independently and critically relate these issues to the broader field of law and technology.
