Who’s ready for a festive trail? A special festive activity that obeys all the Lockdown rules is being held at St Peter’s Church in Belgrave Road, Seaford, on Saturday 12th December. It is aimed at families and is a fun challenge that everyone can take part in, whether church members or not. Families are invited to join a festive trail (pick up a pack at the church between 2pm and 4pm) and set out on the route around the churchyard, then down to Blatchington Pond, and back. It should take about 30 minutes. The idea, says the Rector, the Rev Arwen Folkes, is to offer the chance for families to take their daily exercise with fun. On the trail they are invited to find clues that will be hidden on the route, up in trees for instance. It’s going to be rather like a festive treasure hunt.

And at the end, back at the church, the families will be invited to respond to ideas set out in a letter suggesting things to do at home which they can photo and share on the church website. There will also be an invitation to share an online crib service to be held on Sunday 20th December at 4.30pm. A crib will be placed outside the building (under cover if necessary, of course), and around it will be stars hanging from bushes and trees which people are invited to take home. All this is an enterprise by St Peter’s which, as with so many churches, has frustratingly been so restricted in activities this year, and is anxious to make some kind of festive mark this month in a way in which everyone can share.
