Seaford Volunteer Emergency Team moving forward

Phone line hours: Mon to Fri: 9am – 12 noon. Tel: 01323 364058 During September and October we saw a big drop in calls to our help line, often only one a day, hence we have reduced our hours. IF during this new lockdown we see we have missed many calls and people have been unable to call back when we are available we will act accordingly and make further changes. Information about these will be added to the message on our answerphone and we will publicise these on our Facebook Group, website and via other local media. We have been so pleased that many have been able to use the advice we have given about local deliveries. We have also helped some people to change pharmacy to local businesses which are able to deliver prescriptions to elderly and vulnerable residents. Because of this people have regained their independence and found new ways of getting the things they need. This is a good thing for them and hopefully will mean we do not see a large increase in the need for our help. Many of our original volunteers have now gone back to work and college/university but we are still here for you if you need our help for essential shopping, prescriptions etc. We will also try to respond to anyone who suddenly has to go into isolation, or falls ill, until you can get organised. As soon as Lockdown#2 was announced many local cafés responded to the need and announced they would restart takeaways and home deliveries. Many residents are really pleased to be able to get a prebooked Sunday lunch this way. As I write we know that The Front Room, Marion’s café (next to Be Creative) and the Seven Sisters Pub are doing this. We are sure there will be others too. Remember also that you can ring up and get deliveries from Burts Bakery 01323 894318, Scoop and Weigh 01323 899047, Walbrins Butchers and Gabriella’s Greengrocers 01323 892781 to support our local businesses. Finally, the Morrisons Doorstep Delivery Scheme means you can ring 0345 611 6111, wait for offer of Option 5 and order anything you want (except ice cream!) for

next day delivery. The service remains free to those who are vulnerable or elderly. To help them in the store please be as specific as possible about what you want. Alternatively if you are able to order your shopping online, the supermarkets seem to have increased the number of delivery slots available. Remember you can also contact us on our website https://svet.proffer.org.uk and fill in the Request form for support. Please note these online requests will only be dealt with during our 9-12 noon operating hours. Thank you to everyone who has pulled together to make this possible. We hope you will all have a peaceful Christmas. If we cannot help you or are not available, we know some people who can so here are some useful numbers to CUT OUT AND KEEP.
