Newhaven Country Market at the Hillcrest Centre We are sorry to report that the Country Market had to close for the month of November but hopefully when you read this article the market will be operating again from 3rd December. A big thank you to our regular customers who returned to the market during October, we also saw quite a few new faces. We hope you enjoyed your visit and please keep coming. Market members are continuing to prepare for Christmas, and if we are able our Christmas market will be held on the 10th December. The market is a branch of the national organisation Country Markets Plc. The regional markets promote locally baked, grown and crafted goods. All our food producers have the required standard of food hygiene certificate and the Food Premises Accreditation.

Those of you who have been frequent visitors will know that there will be the usual variety of stalls, including sweet and savoury freshly baked goods, Indian food and spices, jams and preserves. Textile crafts are well represented with sewn goods and hand-knitted items such as socks, hats, scarves, gloves, children’s wear and lots more. Jewellery, handmade cards, candles, decorated gift bags and mosaic items made from vintage china will also be avaialble. For the Christmas market the stall holders will have special offers, lucky dip, free gifts and a raffle.
The Market is open every Thursday between 10am and 1pm in the Hillcrest Community Centre (formerly the Old Boys’ School). The premises offer free parking, disabled access and toilets. The Hillcrest Café is well known for its very good food, cooked fresh daily on site. (However, due to Covid-19 regulations we cannot guarantee you will be able to enjoy refreshments.)
