Island Insider

LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

As we round out the year here at Seabrook Island Club, there’s a wonderful energy in the air: autumn sunsets, early holiday gatherings, and the joy of spending time with friends and neighbors across our beautiful island. We’re thrilled to bring you the first edition of The Island Insider, a new monthly publication designed to celebrate the people, places, and experiences that make Seabrook Island Club so special.

We’re also excited to introduce Eve Boggs, our new Member Communications Manager, who joined the team in September. Originally from Virginia, and a Charlestonian for the past six years, Eve brings a fresh perspective with a background in strategic communications and public relations and a genuine passion for connecting people through stories

From upcoming events to culinary highlights, and book clubs to cocktail classes, this issue offers a taste of what’s ahead as we enter the holiday season here at Seabrook Island Club

Warm regards, Anna & Eve

A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Operations have been in full swing this season and even more so as we head into the holidays. We have accomplished a lot together this fall from the tremendous success of The Fleming Open 2025 and the Member-Guest Tournament, the successful launch of Happometer, the new survey system Members have been receiving. We also debuted our new fall Bistro on the Water, which has quickly become a hit, enjoyed a series of delicious Wine Dinners, celebrated the always-popular Fall Festival at the Equestrian Center, and hosted many other memorable Member events

In addition, we ’ ve had the pleasure of welcoming 105 new Memberships (through September) to Seabrook, and we look forward to seeing them fully engaged in all that our Club has to offer. It’s been a vibrant and productive season for our entire team

As we move through the fall, budget season is also in action. We are working closely with all department heads to review priorities, align goals, and finalize the Club’s 2026 budget. This process ensures that we continue to make thoughtful investments in our facilities, programs, and staff all aimed at enhancing the Member experience and maintaining the high standards that define Seabrook Island Club. Members will see the results of all of the work that has been done on the 2026 Budget at our Open Member Meeting November 21st

One of the most enjoyable parts of this season has been watching our staff in action. Every day, I see teams coming together with care, creativity, and commitment to maintain the integrity of what makes Seabrook special. Whether it’s the condition of our golf courses, the quality of service in our dining rooms, or the extensive programming at Racquet Sports, our Team’s dedication is impressive.

I invite you to join us for the Open Member Meeting on November 21 at 4:00 PM in the Atlantic Ballroom at the Island House It’s a great chance to hear from Club leadership and take part in an open dialogue about our progress and plans ahead.

LIFE AT THE CLUB

to grab your clubs and get out on the green than fall.

What is Bounce? Tips from the Pros.

If your wedge game feels inconsistent, it might not be your swing it could be your bounce. Bounce is the angle between the sole of the club and the ground, and it affects how your club moves through turf or sand.

A wedge with low bounce works best for firmer turf and shallow swings, while a high bounce wedge is ideal for softer conditions or steeper angles of attack.

That’s why wedge fitting matters and why we offer professional fittings at the Golf Pro Shop. Whether you ' re a sweeper or a digger, our professional golf staff can help you find the bounce that fits your game perfectly.

SEABROOK ISLAND MASTER PLAN

This Master Plan identifies the zones, proposed improvement concepts within a zone, as a longterm roadmap for shared spaces and smarter development of our Island-wide buildings and grounds.

The Seabrook Island Master Plan was initially started as a Plan for SIC, but in the best interests of Seabrook Island residents (SIPOA), Club Members (SIC), and the Town of Seabrook Island (TOSI), all three entities decided to plan for the future of the Island’s buildings and grounds together.

The project began with RFP responses from multiple consulting firms with expertise in master planning for Club, hospitality, and private community customers Kuo Diedrich and Chi (KDC) were selected as our consultants of choice in the Spring of 2024. Over the past year, KDC has visited Seabrook multiple times to get to know the Island, residents, and the needs of SIPOA, SIC, and TOSI as we move into the future.

They started their work by expressing the guiding principles for the planning: nature, community, engagement, value and alignment.

From all the discussions with SIPOA, SIC, TOSI, and the twelve focus groups, they developed a broad plan around seven zones, each zone having several concepts, with multiple phases, starting from current (Phase 0) through up to several years in the future (Phase 2).

The results of their work were presented islandwide in Spring 2025 to all Seabrook Islanders through webinars, open houses, and website posts. The Master Plan committee received feedback from over 280 Seabrook Islanders and has recently reported the themes of that feedback on the Master Plan website.

SIPOA, SIC, and TOSI are reviewing all the zones and concepts that were communicated in the Master Plan and are already working on some of the Phase 0 projects, the “low-hanging fruit ” Phase 1 projects are next being reviewed, and KDC will be engaged to develop more detailed conceptual designs, cost estimates and working with our committee structures developing a business case for each significant concept.

Everyone on the island will start to see the results of the collaboration and extra time that was put in by a dedicated team of Seabrook Islanders soon as we start the 2026 budgets and plans.
