AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution In the Antelope Valley has grown to be a more serious problem over the years according to The Antelope Valley AQMD. California's air quality standards are more protective of health than the federal standards. Antelope Valley AQMD does not have the state 1-hour or federal 8-hour standard for ozone. All this means that on some days we breathe unhealthy air. The Antelope Valley AQMD has said that “The county's sunny climate, pollution-trapping mountains, transport pollution from the Los Angeles basin and a growing population, all contribute to the problem. But noty all this air mountain trapping can go on forever. It can be stoped. The AQMD has put in the effort to help through developing and implementing programs and regulations to improve our air quality. Just as they are contributing to helping, we the citizens can help by following the regulations put in by the AQMD.Not only by following the regulations but we can contribute by helping to lower car emmisions. Put in the effort by also choosing one day out of the week to not use our car. Ozone is an invisible pollutant formed by chemical reactions involving nitrogen oxides, reactive hydrocarbons, and sunlight. It is a powerful respiratory irritant that can cause coughing, shortness of breath, headaches, fatigue, and lung damage. All of this can is very harmfull to the people of the Antelope Valley but the AQMD is commited to preserve good air quality to the citizens of The Antelope Valley.
