Performer Biographies

Soprano Jordan Averett, 22, from Braselton, GA, is a Senior at Emory University double majoring in Music (Vocal Performance) and Business (Finance). Jordan is a recipient of the Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship, and she has also served as a Mentoring Fellow for the Emory Scholars Program for the past two years. Jordan currently studies voice under Dr. Bethany Mamola, and she has been taking classical voice lessons since she was 13 years old. She began her vocal studies at the Sound of Music School in Buford, GA, where she received the 2018 Student of the Year award. At Emory, she currently serves as the President of Emory’s Concert Choir, where she has also sung as a Soprano 1 for the past four years. Jordan is a proud member of the Nu Alpha chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, where she served as the Sergeant at Arms for one year. Jordan attributes many of her fondest memories at Emory to her time in the Music department, through which she was also able to study in Cremona, Italy through Emory’s Music in Italy program. Beyond her time at Emory, Jordan hopes to pursue a career in finance while also still continuing her passion of singing.

A native of Atlanta, pianist Caroline Owen frequently performs as a soloist and collaborator. She has played in venues across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, including the DiMenna Center for Classical Music (New York) and the Wiener Saal and Solitär at the Mozarteum (Salzburg). Owen was the winner of the Florida MTNA Young Artist Competition and a semifinalist in both the 14th International Mozart Competition Salzburg and the International Keyboard Odyssiad. She also won the 2018 Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta Competition, from which she received a scholarship to study at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Her 2024-2025 schedule includes solo and collaborative performances across the U.S. Owen has performed at festivals including PianoFest in the Hamptons, PianoTexas, Atlantic Music Festival, and the Prague Piano Festival, and she has worked with distinguished artists such as Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Richard Goode, and Pascal Rogé, among others. With a background in dance, Owen enjoys her ongoing interdisciplinary collaborations with composer and multimedia artist Badie Khaleghian. The duo’s most substantial work, Electric Sky Blue (2022), has been performed in festivals across the U.S. and internationally. Owen has also been performing on tour since 2022 as a member of the Astralis Chamber Ensemble. Owen earned her doctoral degree from Florida State University, where she studied with David Kalhous. In addition to her position at Emory, Dr. Owen also serves on the faculty at the University of Georgia and is Co-Director of the Decatur Fine Arts Academy.
