Christian Chae (25B) is a Robert W. Woodruff Scholar, currently holding the principal position in the Emory University Symphony Orchestra, and simultaneously playing in chamber and solo music variety. He is studying Strategy & Management Consulting, Information Systems and Operations Management, and music. Chae studies under Joseph Skerik of the Vega Quartet and has previously studied under the Coletti studio at the Colburn School. After graduation he will be working in the financial industry at Morgan Stanley and pursuing music through community ensembles.
Andrew Choi (24C) is a cellist based in Atlanta. He has previously studied with Roy Harran, Eugene Osadchy, Kyeung-Suh Na, and Jeong-Suk Lee. He previously held the principal cello chair in Emory University Symphony Orchestra and was involved with Emory Chamber Ensembles. Now, he performs with the Dekalb Symphony Orchestra and is part of the group Eden Strings. Besides his music endeavors, he currently works as an associate consultant at Capgemini Invent. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, rock climbing, and hanging out with his cat.
Oluwasijibomi (Siji) Osunkoya (24C) is a violist and medical student based in Philadelphia. He previously studied with Yinzi Kong and Joseph Skerik. He graduated summa cum laude from Emory University with a double major in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology/Music Composition. He previously held the principal viola chair in Emory University Symphony Orchestra and was involved with Emory Chamber Ensembles. Now, he serves as principal violist with the Penn Medicine Symphony Orchestra while pursuing his medical degree as a 21st Century Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
Christy Song (23C) is a violinist based in Atlanta and a 2023 graduate from Emory University, where she earned a double major in Biology and Music Performance. She studied violin with Ann Rylands, a former student of Ivan Galamian and Jessica Wu of the Vega Quartet, as well as flute with Kristen Holritz and James Zellers. At Emory, she held the Joel M. Felner MD Concertmaster Chair and the Edward Goodwin Scruggs Principal Second Chair in the Emory University Symphony Orchestra and received the 2023 Scruggs Orchestral Prize. She currently performs with the Chattanooga and Dekalb Symphony Orchestras, and Eden Strings. During her gap years before pursuing medical school, she works as the Emory Instrumental Ensembles Program Coordinator and as a medical scribe at the Emory Winship Institute.
Carol Xu, violin
Carol Xu (24C) is a violinist and economist based in Dallas, TX. She previously studied with Jessica Wu of the Vega Quartet and graduated from Emory University in 2024 with a dual degree in Economics and Human Health and a double major in music performance. During her time at Emory, she served as the concertmaster of the Emory University Symphony Orchestra, performed in the renowned Moscato Quartet, and was awarded the 2023 Emory Women’s Club Arts Scholarship. Currently, she studies with Diane Kitzman at Southern Methodist University and teaches violin in Dallas. Outside of music, she is a research assistant in health economics and drug policy, and will be working for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) this summer in Washington, D.C.
