Schulich students have access to a full range of scholarships and awards which recognize excellence through academic achievement and extra-curricular involvement in the School and/or wider community. Through the generosity of alumni and friends, these scholarships and awards are among the highest value offered to business students in Canada and around the world.
Funding pathways make it possible for students with financial need to pursue a Schulich degree.

Schulich celebrates the accomplishments of incoming students through competitive entrance scholarships, awards, and bursaries.
SRPAA Leadership Award for Black Communities
The SRPAA Leadership Award for Black Communities will be granted annually to an incoming Black domestic BBA student who has demonstrated (within their supplementary application) leadership characteristics, resilience and community involvement. The award is renewable for up to three (3) additional years provided the student remains in good academic standing. Preference will be granted to students demonstrating the greatest financial need. The maximum amount per student is $30,000. The recipient will also have optional access to mentoring and guidance from the Brookfield Centre and its alumni community, and those with an interest in pursuing a real estate career will have the opportunity to receive assistance in securing an internship after their third year.

The SRPAA Leadership Award for Indigenous Communities will be given annually to an incoming Indigenous domestic BBA student who has demonstrated (within their supplementary application) leadership characteristics, resilience and community involvement. The award is renewable for up to three (3) additional years provided the student remains in good academic standing. Preference will be granted to students demonstrating the greatest financial need. The maximum amount per student is $30,000. In recognition of academic excellence and merit, Seymour Schulich, OC (Hon LLD ’03) has created the Tanna H. Schulich Entrance Scholarship. Recipients will have been active in their communities and have demonstrated leadership qualities either in school or through extracurricular activities.

Umbrella Inc. Student Leadership Award
The Umbrella Inc. Student Leadership Award is presented annually to any incoming student enrolled at the Schulich School of Business who demonstrates experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, with a minimum GPA of 5.0 (B). Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume. OPTIONAL: Recipients will be shortlisted for the opportunity to interview for a paid internship and receive mentorship from a senior team member at one of Umbrella Incorporated’s affiliated companies, Tidal Commerce, Apsis Commerce or Cloud Managed Network. The Umbrella Incorporated Student Leadership Fund was created by Umbrella Incorporated to champion the next generation of business innovators. Rooted in our core values—Curiosity, Agility, Reliability, Effectiveness, and Generosity—this fund embodies our belief in investing wholeheartedly in emerging talent. By pairing financial support with a paid internship and one-on-one mentorship at CMN, Tidal Commerce, Apsis, or Vertex, the Leadership Fund brings to life our “We Over I” spirit. The Edith Schulich BBA Entrance Award is presented to an incoming BBA student who has demonstrated exceptional academic ability in his/ her high school graduating year and demonstrates financial need. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

KPMG Award for Black and Indigenous Students
The KPMG Award for Black and Indigenous Students supports incoming Black and/or Indigenous students enrolled in the BBA program. Recipients must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Applicants will be required to complete the Schulich Bursary Application and self-identify as Black or Indigenous.

Steven K. Hudson BBA Entrance Award
Established by Schulich alumnus Steven K. Hudson (BBA ’81), the Steven K. Hudson BBA Entrance Award is given to a Year 1 BBA student who has achieved first class standing (A) in their senior year of high school and has shown strong entrepreneurial achievements. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need. Steven Hudson is a strong supporter of the York Community.

PureFacts PureScholars Award
The PureFacts PureScholars Award was created to celebrate and nurture the next generation of business leaders. Each year, the award is given to an incoming BBA student who demonstrates academic success, financial need, and community involvement. Each recipient will have the opportunity to partner with a mentor from PureFacts to guide them through their educational career and help them secure employment.

Nissan Canada Leadership Entrance Award
The Nissan Canada Leadership Entrance Award will be given annually to an incoming undergraduate (BBA or iBBA) student in the Schulich School of Business who is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, resident of Ontario, and who demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities.

The Sidney Award
The Sidney Award is awarded to an incoming Schulich School of Business BBA student who demonstrates financial need and academic excellence (minimum 8.00 GPA). The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Badrul and Ayesha Haque Family Award

ADMISSION
Applicants are considered for awards only if they have been admitted to the program of their choice.
SELECTION
Recipients are selected for awards based on each award’s criteria. Selections are made by a Scholarships Committee that meet on a regular basis.
NOTIFICATION
Recipients will be notified via email if they have been selected to receive an award.
Wajeeha and Najeeb Family Award
Established by Nidal Haque (BBA ‘15) and Risham Najeeb (BBA ‘18), the Wajeeha and Najeeb Family Award was created to honour the parents of these two Schulich alumni. The award is given to an incoming BBA domestic female student who demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to a student who self-identifies as Female, Black and/or First Nations, Metis or Inuit students, or who has displayed exemplary efforts to elevate BIPOC communities.

Wawanesa Black Health Scholars Fund (SSB)
The Wawanesa Black Health Scholars Fund will be awarded to either one (1) or two (2) incoming full-time students in 2025/26 at the Schulich School of Business. The award will be given to an equity deserving student who self-identifies as Black and who demonstrates community leadership and academic achievement.

Schulich offers a range of scholarships and awards that recognize the achievements of continuing undergraduate-level students and support their educational costs.
Schulich Startup Night Award
The Schulich Startup Night Award, will be awarded to the winning team along with extensive promotion and access to exclusive mentorship opportunities. Eligible candidates include Students and Alumni from all Schulich Programs who graduated no longer than 18 months ago.

Canaccord Genuity Diversity Award of Excellence
The Canaccord Genuity Diversity Award of Excellence was created to benefit students at the Schulich School of Business. Canaccord Genuity (CG) and all of its affiliates aim to create a workplace where diversity is encouraged and in which all employees have the opportunity to realize their potential for excellence. To create economic opportunities in the Black community and to encourage a more equitable future, CG has established a well-rounded awards program that will unlock the full potential of Black students pursuing a career in capital markets/wealth management. The Award will be given annually to two (2) second-year Black BBA students who demonstrate academic excellence (minimum GPA of B+) and an interest in capital markets/wealth management. The recipients will demonstrate exemplary leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as strong experience in community-building. Unique to this awards program is the immediate investment of an optional continuous CG mentorship throughout the year and an opportunity to interview for a summer internship. Applicants to the Award will be required to demonstrate leadership/community experience and passion for capital markets/wealth management. Only Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents are eligible for this award. In the case where 2 BBA students cannot be identified, the award will be given to 1 graduate MBA student and 1 BBA student, and in the event that there cannot be an MBA student identified, the award may be granted to another Masters student. If no recipients meet eligibility, the awards maybe be awarded the following year.

Elizabeth Maynes Memorial Award
The Elizabeth Maynes Memorial Award celebrates the life and legacy of Elizabeth Marie Maynes, PhD, a distinguished Associate Professor of Corporate Finance at Schulich for 27 years who passed away in 2019. This award was established by Elizabeth’s husband, Bruce Rhodes, her mother, Jacqueline Maynes, and her brother, Robert Maynes, to honour her memory by supporting Schulich students. The award will benefit a 3rd or 4th year BBA student who identifies as a woman. Recipients must be Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents or Protected Persons, and demonstrate financial need.

The KPMG Accounting Scholarship will be granted to third year BBA/ iBBA students who are specializing in accounting. The successful candidates must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

BMO Diversity in Finance Award
Established to enhance access and eliminate barriers to finance careers for talented individuals. Preference will be given to students from underrepresented communities such as Black, First Nations, Metis, Inuit and Female students. If there are not four (4) from that demographic then students with demonstrated financial need will be selected. The award will be granted for five (5) years, commencing in academic year 2025/26 at a value of $5,000 to four (4) high-achieving, equity-deserving students. Two (2)awards will be granted to students in their third year of Schulich’s undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration program, and two (2) awards will be granted to students entering Schulich’s Master of Finance program.

Ernst & Young BBA Award
In recognition of academic excellence, demonstrated leadership and financial need, Ernst & Young has created the Ernst & Young Awards. The awards are given to third year BBA/iBBA students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and financial need. Preference is given to students who are pursuing an Accounting specialization. Recipients will have been active in their communities and have demonstrated leadership either in student government or other extracurricular activities. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

The Devin Truax Memorial BBA Scholarship
The Devin Truax Memorial BBA Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time fourth year Schulich School of Business BBA student who demonstrates academic excellence (minimum GPA of 7.50 or 3.7 under the new grading scheme to come into effect Fall 2023), financial need and a commitment to extracurricular volunteerism and community leadership. This Scholarship has been established in memory of Devin Truax, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly during the fourth year of his iBBA studies. This Scholarship reflects the values associated with Devin’s time at Schulich, including his placement on the Dean’s Honours List, his student government leadership and student ambassador roles, and his overall active involvement in the Schulich community.

Freia and John A. Heber Business Scholarship
The Freia and John A. Heber Business Scholarship will be awarded to continuing full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Schulich School of Business who are entering their third year of study and demonstrate academic excellence (minimum 8.00 or equivalent) in their most recent year of study. For twenty years, John A. Heber worked in York University’s Department of Finance serving as Comptroller for eight years. Understanding the importance of higher education, Mr. Heber and his wife, Freia (nee Kaiser) Heber have established this fund through a bequest to York University.

Alan and Esther Hockin Achievement Award
Social Impact Internship Award
The Social Impact Internship Award is established by Schulich alumnus Henry Chau and his wife Devan Sze Wan Chau to support Schulich students who demonstrates strong interest in pursuing a career within the non-profit sector. Henry and Devan are strong advocates of social responsibility in business and society and the valuable role that individuals, leaders and organizations play in creating a more socially responsible culture and community. The Social Impact Internship Award will benefit a full-time student enrolled in the BBA/ iBBA program at the Schulich School of Business who have completed their second year of studies, in good academic standing, or during their third year into the program if an academic leave is being taken. The recipient must be pursuing a specialization in Responsible Business, as well as completing an internship, paid or unpaid, at a non-profit organization. A letter of confirmation from the internship site employer confirming the start and end dates of the internship and a summary of their job responsibilities, as well as a resume, is required to be considered for this award.

Optimus SBR Award of Excellence
The Optimus SBR Award of Excellence is given to a third year BBA/ iBBA student who demonstrates financial need, exhibits academic excellence, and who self-identifies as Black. The award is renewable for the student’s fourth year should they show continued strong academic standing.

The Toronto Dominion Bank Award is awarded to students registered in third or fourth year of the BBA/iBBA programs. Successful candidates must have a minimum grade point average of 7.00 (B+). The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Wigwamen Scholarship
The Wigwamen Scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in the BBA/iBBA, MBA or one year specialized Masters program at the Schulich School of Business. The recipient must be of documented Indigenous descent, a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

This bursary will be awarded to a student who identifies as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit (with preference given to domestic students), demonstrates financial need, is enrolled in an Accounting, Finance, or Business program within the Schulich School of Business, and maintains a passing GPA.

Awarded to a second year BBA/iBBA student in the fall-term who has achieved a minimum GPA of 7.00 (B+) and demonstrates an interest in finance and extraordinary community involvement and engagement. Students must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.
This award is presented by Citi Canada in recognition of the firm’s commitment to diversity and their support of women, aboriginals and persons with disabilities. Preference will be given to students in these three categories. The Award will be adjudicated by the Schulich School of Business Office of Student Financial Services.

Michael Paul Sardella Award for International Studies
Established in memory of Michael Paul Sardella, who spent his last few years working in Southeast Asia, this award recognizes his passion for travel and the study of different cultures. It will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate Schulich School of Business student to travel abroad for internships with foreign organizations, as part of their international program of studies. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 6.00 (B+) and demonstrate financial need. Recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons who are residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.

The Margaret Grace Harris Bursary was established through the generosity of the late Margaret Grace Harris. The bursary will be given annually to an undergraduate or graduate business student who is in need of financial assistance.

UBS Class of 2020 Award
Established by the 2019-2020 Undergraduate Business Society (UBS) Executive team in tribute to the class of 2020, the UBS Class of 2020 Award is given to a continuing 3rd or 4th year full-time student who is enrolled in the BBA program at the Schulich School of Business. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, as well as leadership and contribution to the Schulich community through the submission of an application.

Keun-Chang Kim Memorial Award
This award will be given to a Schulich School of Business undergraduate student with a minimum grade point average of 7.00 (B+) who is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person and resident of Ontario, and who demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to students involved in an academic exchange program to Korea or who demonstrate a commitment to community volunteerism. This award can be given in addition to other exchange program funding. Young-Rahn Woo has established this award in loving memory of her father.

MBA Class of 2007 Schulich Ambassador Award
The MBA Class of 2007 Schulich Ambassador Award is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student at the Schulich School of Business who demonstrates academic excellence, strong leadership and value added judgment. Students must have a minimum 6.5 GPA and have completed a minimum of 50 hours in the Schulich Ambassador Program. The student must demonstrate financial need and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person and a resident of Ontario.

General Motors of Canada Limited Bursary
The General Motors of Canada Limited Bursary is awarded first to disabled students of the Schulich School of Business MBA or BBA programs, and then to students who have undergone a personal hardship, such as the death of a parent, having the effect of putting them under financial strain. Recipients must be Canadian citizens/ permanent residents or protected persons, residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.

Pace Family Foundation Mobility Bursary
This award was created by the Pace Family Foundation. Co-founded by Al Pace (MBA / LLB ‘ 82) and Kristin Morch in 2008, the Pace Family Foundation’s work includes health and education projects in Canada and in Africa where it has been involved with the development of hospitals, health centers, schools and water projects. PFF has also been actively involved with Médecins Sans Frontières in the Sudan, Syria and elsewhere in Africa. The Pace Family Foundation Mobility Bursary Fund was created in 2024 and will support students hands-on learning experiences, cultural immersion, networking opportunities, practical application of knowledge, personal growth, career advancement, and the development of a global perspective while at the Schulich School of Business.

Lawrence S. (Al) Rosen BBA Award
This award is given to one third year BBA/iBBA student who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership and financial need. Preference is given to students who are pursuing an Accounting specialization. Recipients will have been active in their community and have demonstrated leadership either in student government or extracurricular activities. The student will demonstrate academic excellence and will be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person and resident of Ontario who demonstrates financial need. In recognition of academic excellence, demonstrated leadership and financial need, Al Rosen has created the Lawrence S. (Al) Rosen BBA Award.

In memory of Owen and Millicent Winchcombe, two annual scholarships are awarded in the fall for scholastic achievement to each of the top students entering second year of the full-time MBA program, and third and fourth year of the BBA/iBBA programs.

Veritas Investment Research Award in Accounting
Accounting is the language of business. Accounting provides the regulatory and ethical framework for the information that empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions. Founded in 2000, Veritas Investment Research and its affiliates, Veritas Asset Management and The Veritas Foundation, provide Canada’s leading independent equity research, asset management and philanthropic support, respectively. Our unique forensic accounting-based research approach cuts through noise and has a long track record of outperforming the market. With this award, we are proud to support the next generation of leading accountants. The Veritas Investment Research Award in Accounting is awarded to the top undergraduate student who completed the Introduction to Financial Accounting course [ACTG 2010 3.00] at the Schulich School of Business.

Thomas H. Beechy Award for International Exchange
Dr. Thomas H. Beechy has recognized the value of international exchange in the learning process for our future business leaders. This award is available to a second or third-year BBA/iBBA student who intends to participate in an academic exchange, demonstrates financial need, and has achieved a minimum 6.00 (B) in Schulich courses. Monika Federau Scholarship for Women in
Business
The Monika Federau Scholarship for Women in Business will be awarded annually to a first year female student enrolled in the BBA or iBBA program at York’s Schulich School of Business. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident. Selection will be based in a minimum grade of 90% for students entering from high school. The scholarship will provide recipients the (optional) opportunity to be mentored by the donor. Monika Federau is the Chief Strategy Officer for Intact Financial Corporation where she leads the development of corporate strategies, and oversees branding, government relations and communications. She joined Intact in 2010 as Senior Vice President, Marketing responsible for national advertising, communication and sponsorship strategies, as well as research and digital initiatives. Prior to Intact, Ms. Federau lived in Hong Kong working for a global life insurer where she was responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance the company’s brand throughout Asia. Monika serves on the Board of the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada, the Board of UNICEF Canada, the Advisory Board for the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, and is the Vice-Chair of the Board of Toronto Finance International.

Mirha Juma Memorial Award
The Mirha Juma Memorial Award will be awarded to a BBA/iBBA student in their third or fourth year of studies. Established by the Undergraduate Business Society (UBS) at the Schulich School of Business and supported by the Schulich community, this award was created in memory of Mirha Juma, who passed away suddenly during the first year of her studies in the iBBA program.

Empire Communities Real Estate Prize
The Empire Communities Real Estate Prize will be awarded annually to an undergraduate student in their final year who have completed PROP 4950 Real Estate Finance and PROP 4800 Real Estate Development and Marketing. The primary criterion for the Prize is the top average grade achieved in PROP 4950 and PROP 4800. In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be considered in order: Combined performance in PROP 4950 and PROP 4800; Participation and performance in real estate-related case competitions; Instructor input and recommendations. Empire Communities, a leading homebuilder in Canada and the US, is proud to offer the Empire Communities Real Estate Prize, supporting students pursuing degrees in finance, real estate, or related fields, with a focus on residential real estate. This Prize aims to inspire academic excellence and encourage careers in residential real estate, reflecting Empire’s commitment to fostering talent and giving back to the community.

The Nick Corradino Changemaker Award will be given annually to a student in the BBA program at the Schulich School of Business, York University. The recipient must demonstrate leadership skills, academic achievement (GPA 6.0), making a positive impact to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Award applicants will be required to prepare a written statement to be considered for the Award.

Timothy A. Brown Startup Award for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs
This award is designed to help one 2nd or 3rd year BBA/iBBA students afford the cost of education and help kick-start their entrepreneurial journey. The recipient demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit by submitting an outline of their own startup creation/concept and/or their contributions to the student entrepreneurial startup community at Schulich, as well as demonstrate financial need. The recipient will also receive the optional opportunity for quarterly mentorship sessions with the Executive Director of Schulich s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Award will encourage the recipient to explore their startup ideas and advance their early-stage entrepreneurial aspirations. Timothy A. Brown teaches the Schulich Mini-MBA: Dentist Business Leadership Program at the Schulich Executive Education Centre (SEEC). Passionate about entrepreneurship and championing student success, Timothy establishes this Award to help Schulich undergraduate students to jumpstart and succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavours.

Carmen and Stanislaus Pinto Resilience Award
The Carmen and Stanislaus Pinto Resilience Award was created to benefit undergraduate business students at the Schulich School of Business who demonstrate financial need. The award will be granted to domestic students who demonstrate leadership through extracurricular activities and academic excellence (6.00 GPA). This award has been created in loving memory of Carmen and Stanislaus Pinto, to celebrate the importance of education, strength and resilience.

The Sam G. and Rose T. Reisman Award
This award has been established by Sam G. and Rose T. Reisman to provide an annual award to a deserving York University undergraduate student with a preference given to those students who are affiliated with the Schulich School of Business. Through this award, the Reisman family is pleased to show their support for York University students. This award has been established through a gift from Michael A. Katigbak, whose focus is on complementary medicine. It is awarded annually to a student with demonstrated financial need who is entering his/her first year of the BBA/iBBA program. Class of ’97 BBA Bursary
Each year, a full-time BBA/iBBA student is selected to receive this bursary. The selected student will be in good standing, registered as a full-time student in the BBA program and demonstrates financial need. The James Bray Bursary in Memory of Mrs. Anne Bray
This bursary is open to BBA students who demonstrate financial need to achieve their academic goals. Recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.

Nicholas Gareri Award
This award is offered annually to a first-year BBA student who has demonstrated financial need. Recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.

Bruno Amadi Bursary
Established through a gift from Bruno Amadi (BBA ’79) to support a student who has completed the equivalent of at least one full year of the BBA/iBBA program with a minimum average of 6.00 (B) and a specialization in either finance or marketing. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Michael Bond Memorial Award
Awarded to a fourth-year BBA student based upon academic achievement. Student must demonstrate a special interest in the field of Management Science or Marketing.

The Joshua Tan Memorial Scholarship
The BBA Class of 1996 has established this scholarship in memory of classmate Joshua Tan. The scholarship is awarded to a fourth-year BBA/iBBA student with a specialization in Finance who has achieved a minimum GPA of 7.00 (B+).

Stanley L. Warner Memorial Award
This award was established in memory of Stanley L. Warner, Schulich Professor of statistics and economics, to celebrate his many contributions to the School and his field. The Schulich School presents the award each year to recognize a third or fourth-year BBA’s academic achievement and extracurricular activities or contribution to the community and/or university life.

A.L. Tune Bursary
In memory of A.L. Tune, a respected leader of Ontario credit unions, the Ontario Credit Union Foundation provides a bursary to assist a BBA/iBBA student in Year 3 or 4. Selection is based on financial need and academic excellence. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Gordon Charlton Shaw Achievement Award
The Gordon Charlton Shaw Achievement Award is awarded in the spring to a Year 3 BBA student. The student will have demonstrated satisfactory academic performance, and in the view of the awards committee, have made the most contribution to the School during their years in the Faculty.

Bernadine Nightingale Scholarship
The Bernandine Nightingale Scholarship is awarded to a fourth-year BBA student specializing in marketing who demonstrates strong academic potential.

Victor Murray Bursary
The Victor Murray Bursary will support full-time or part-time students in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs demonstrating financial need.

Established by generous alumni contributions to the Schulich Annual Fund, the bursary will support undergraduate and graduate Schulich School of Business students, part-time or full-time, who demonstrate financial need.

Sarfraz Visram Undergraduate Finance Award
The Sarfraz Visram Undergraduate Finance Award will provide an annual award to a student that has completed their third year at Schulich, with a stated specialization in Finance. The award recipient will have the top average grade in third year finance courses (currently FINE 3100 and FINE 3200). Should multiple students achieve the same grade, then the Award will be granted first with preference to the eligible applicant with the highest cumulative GPA, and then to the eligible applicant that demonstrates top cumulative GPA and the greatest financial need. The award recipient will also be invited for a day on Bay Street to meet with top professionals in Canadian finance. This award was established by Sarfraz Visram (BBA ‘98) who credits his undergraduate education at Schulich for providing a solid grounding upon which he launched his multi-decade career in Finance.

President’s Award for BBA – Financial Institution Funded
The President’s Award for BBA – Financial Institution Funded is presented to the student with the highest academic standing after completion of the first 90 credits of the BBA program. The award will be presented in the fall of each year.

The Peterson Family Gold Medal & Scholarship in Entrepreneurial Studies
The Peterson Family Gold Medal & Scholarship in Entrepreneurial Studies is awarded to a graduating undergraduate student who has pursued the Entrepreneurial & Family Business Studies concentration and achieved high academic standing in the concentration and also demonstrates true entrepreneurial spirit and drive.

The Bernard M. Wolf Prize of Excellence in the Certificate in International Management
Established by Professor Bernard M. Wolf, Professor Emeritus of Economics and International Business at the Schulich School of Business, the Bernard M. Wolf Prize of Excellence in the Certificate in International Management is awarded to a graduating undergraduate student who has pursued the Certificate in International Management (CIM) and has achieved the highest academic standing.

Alan and Esther Hockin Achievement Award
This award is presented to the graduating BBA/iBBA student who has achieved the highest distinction in academic standing.

Gordon Charlton Shaw Achievement Award - Convocation Award
Awarded in the spring of the year to a graduating BBA student. The student will have demonstrated satisfactory academic performance, and in the view of the awards committee, have made the most contribution to the School during their years in the Faculty.

Murray G. Ross Award
This award, established by the student council in 1962 in honour of York’s first president, is presented annually to a graduating student for scholarship and outstanding contributions to undergraduate student life. The recipient of this award will receive a medal at their convocation ceremony.

York University Awards, Bursaries and Financial Assistance
New and current students in the BBA program are eligible for a range of financial assistance options, including entrance scholarships and in-course awards given by York University in recognition of scholastic achievement. York University Automatic Entrance Scholarships
Students who applied for admission to the BBA will be considered for a York University Automatic Entrance Scholarship. This is a scholarship that does not require an application. Student Financial Services will automatically determine which students are eligible for the award and make the appropriate allocation.

York University Undergraduate Bursary
The value of the bursary is variable and based upon financial need. Applications are available on the York website after the beginning of classes in September. These bursaries are available to Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents or Protected Persons. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the York Undergraduate Bursary, which is available online. International students are eligible to apply for the Emergency Bursary Fund.
York Continuing Scholarships
To be considered for all other York Continuing Scholarships, students must complete a Student Financial Profile by visiting the Student Financial Services website at students.yorku.ca/sfs/awards-andscholarships . Undergraduate Residence Life Bursaries
This award is intended to encourage active participation in residence life. Both new and continuing students are eligible to apply. Generally, applications become available late October and bursaries are awarded in December. Applications will be distributed through House Dons once they become available. Applicants must be Canadian citizens/ permanent residents who demonstrate financial need and are living in one of the undergraduate residences: Bethune, Calumet, Founders, McLaughlin, Stong, Vanier, Winters.

Work/Study Program
The Work/Study Program at York University provides eligible undergraduate students (domestic and international) with the opportunity to develop professional skills and contribute to the university through paid, on-campus employment opportunities. These on campus work experiences will enrich and complement your classroom experiences. In addition, you will be given the support and tools needed to develop proficiency in core competencies that will contribute to your long term personal and professional success and develop your capacity to lead. The General Work/Study program provides student employees with a broad range of opportunities to contribute in support roles while developing valuable, relevant skills and work experience for the work place. These roles offer a learning and development opportunity for Work Study employees to receive experiential on-the-job training, guidance and mentorship. Under the guidance of permanent staff members, Work Study employees will provide support to their relevant department/faculty in clerical, administrative and technical capacities. Research at York (RAY)
The Research at York (RAY) program was created to enhance both the research culture of the University and the undergraduate student academic experience. Through the RAY program, eligible undergraduate students will have the opportunity to participate in research projects with faculty members and/or fellow students, while receiving compensation at a competitive rate. Leadership, Engagement and Ambassadorship Program (LEAP)
LEAP positions focus on engaging undergraduate students in roles within the faculties, colleges, programs, or the university at large, that enhance the overall student experience at York university. LEAP roles allow students to develop skills such as leadership, peer mentoring, and peer support within the University setting and are less clerical in nature than the typical Work/Study position (e.g. less than 20% clerical). Examples of positions include: YU Start Leader, Student Recruitment Ambassadors and Peer Educators/Mentors. Details are available online at: sfs.yorku.ca/work-study-programs

Students may be eligible for government student loan funding through the Ontario Student Assistance Program.
OSAP AT A GLANCE
Financial aid is available to students in the form of Canada and Ontario Student Loans, through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
OSAP is designed to relieve the financial burden of pursuing higher education through a combination of repayable loans and grants. It is a need-based loan program.
Loans are payment-free and interest-free as long as you are enrolled as a full-time student for every term of assessment. At York University, to be considered a full-time student, students must be enrolled in at least 9.00 credits per term; credits cannot be averaged out over the year.
Changes in circumstances throughout the school year can affect OSAP entitlement for the year. Depending on the change, awards may increase or decrease. Changes to course load, income or residence can all affect entitlement. To ensure that any change in entitlement is not detrimental to post-secondary studies, students should consult with a representative from Student Financial Services.

HOW TO FUND YOUR STUDIES
1. Keep your grades up
Access Schulich and York’s top scholarships and entrance scholarships by keeping up your average.
2. Apply for entrance scholarships & awards
The Online Scholarships, Awards & Bursaries Application is open from December 1 to April 1 and is available through MyFile at go.yorku.ca/ myfile . Your York reference number (provided when you applied for admission) is required to complete the online form. Apply early — you don’t need to wait for an offer of admission.
3. Apply for OSAP
95% of students who are Ontario residents and apply for OSAP receive loan and/or grant funding. The application opens in November each year. Complete the application and submit all necessary documents by June 30 to have funds for September studies. osap.gov.on.ca
4. Apply for in-course scholarships & awards
Once you are enrolled in classes, you can apply for in-course awards for each academic session. A single application, called the Financial Aid, Awards and Scholarships application (FAAS App) is used for scholarships, bursaries and on-campus employment programs. You should complete the FAAS App to be considered for a variety of programs and funding.

Scholarship
Scholarships recognize exceptional talent/promise or academic excellence in a program or specialization at Schulich, like finance or entrepreneurial studies. In some cases, scholarships may also include non-academic criteria (i.e., leadership, volunteerism). All scholarships appear on a student’s transcript.
Award
Awards combine academic and/or non-academic criteria (i.e., leadership, volunteerism) and/or financial need. Awards appear on a student’s transcript.
Bursary
Bursaries are designed to assist students who have financial need. Recipients must be in good academic standing. Bursaries do not appear on the student’s transcript.
SUPPORT OPTIONS
Creating an Endowment
An endowed scholarship/bursary/award is a powerful opportunity for a Schulich donor to generate a lasting, long-term impact for future generations of Schulich students. With your generous gift, an endowment fund is permanently established at York University and is responsibly invested, in perpetuity. Each year, a portion of the interest income earned on your endowment gift is distributed to the student recipient(s) of your scholarship/bursary/award. As you can imagine, over time your endowed fund will build its financial strength and deepen its impact. At the Schulich School of Business, gifts of $50,000 or more are eligible for endowment.
Annually Funded
As an alternative to establishing a permanent endowment, some donors consider providing crucial financial aid funding to Schulich students on an annual basis. Donors can establish new annual scholarships/bursaries/awards by pledging support for a minimum of three years. At the Schulich School of Business, annual support of $5,000 or more will allow for the creation of a new scholarship/ bursary/award.
