Foundational courses provide you with the critical analysis and decision-making skills required of marketers today. Learn state-of-the-art digital marketing and research tools and explore new developments in artificial intelligence, analytics, buyer behaviour, brand management, and marketing communications. Customize your own professional marketing expertise with electives such as Retail Analytics, Entertainment Marketing, New Product Development, Creativity in Marketing, and Customer Experience Design.

Opportunities Post-Degree

Graduates of the MMKG program may be eligible for up to one term of advanced standing in the Schulich MBA.

Experiential Learning in Real-World Applications

The MMKG program is committed to enhanced learning and career opportunities through experiential education. Students participate in two course credit opportunities: consulting project for a small to mid-sized company (required course), and a resume-building work placement as an intern (optional elective course).

The Master of Marketing Field Project

Project Length

Term 3 — Summer

Small student teams work with an experienced marketing faculty member to analyze a company’s market situation and develop recommendations in its areas of need (e.g., positioning, product, communications, promotions).

This consulting project is designed to help deliver returns to organizations that invest to work with a Schulich-trained team, while giving students the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world professional settings.

PROJECT TIMELINE

May: Phase 1 — Analysis

Conduct secondary and primary research to develop a competitive analysis and identify marketplace opportunities.

June: Phase 2 — Status Update

Provide preliminary research results and a project update.

August: Phase 3 —

Final Recommendations

Report your findings and deliver actionable recommendations based on your analysis.

The Master of Marketing Work Placement Elective

Placement

Length

Minimum 12 weeks during the summer semester (May to August).

Gain valuable work experience in a marketing, sales or research capacity with a small company or start-up and earn academic credit during your summer semester. Work placements can help you build your marketing and sales talent pipeline, as well as your professional network.

• You’ll be prepared: MMKG students take 10 masters-level marketing courses (vs. 4-5 for most MBAs and BBAs).

• Flexible hours: Work part-time or full-time as summer courses (other than the placement course) are offered at night, so you can meet expectations.

• Invaluable opportunities: We make the process easy for you by posting opportunities on our internal job board, and forwarding the applications directly to the interested employer.
