It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to The Birkenhead Park School.
We are very proud of our school, the students, and the staff.
We believe in establishing a culture of excellent behaviour, the highest academic standards and a high quality curriculum to develop the potential in every student.
Your child has secured a place in Year 7 and we are confident that they will flourish in our school.
In return for meeting our high standards, your child will receive an outstanding education delivered by our exceptional staff members.
We have a relentless approach to behaviour and attendance, and we make no apology for this.
This is supported by clear and robust systems in place to ensure the school is a safe and happy place where all students can succeed.
We firmly believe that attending The Birkenhead Park School supports students to make exceptional progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our school prides itself on being a place where every student can thrive supported by a dedicated team of staff who are passionate, committed and genuinely care for their well-being.
We look forward to working with you. Once again, welcome to Birkenhead Park School.
We are excited to have you as part of our school community and look forward to you joining us in September.
Mrs N Mcnamee Head of School
We believe that children have the very best chance to succeed if they are in an inspiring and supportive environment.
Our exceptional staff create this on a daily basis and the school values of Positivity, Ambition, Resilience and Thoughtfulness underpin every aspect of school life.
In January 2024, the school’s extremely positive Ofsted report was published.
The inspection team recognised a school that, to quote the report “is on a rapid journey of improvement” and described a school that children enjoy being at: a school that has high expectations and a school were behaviour is excellent.
The school is on a rapid journey of improvement. “ “

At The Birkenhead Park School, we are committed to develop a habit of reading for pleasure, as it not only enhances literacy skills, but the research consistently shows that when students read regularly, they make more progress in all subjects - not just English.
‘The Big Read’ initiative is a daily reading programme designed to inspire a love of reading in our students, no matter what their starting point.
All students in Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 take part in The Big Read every morning and students in the same class read the same book for 30 minutes in a timetabled session with their form tutor.
Teachers read aloud and each student is given a copy of the book so they can follow along with their personalised bookmark.
In October 2024, The Big Read was Runner-up in the ‘Innovative and Creative Literacy Award’ by Educate Awards. These awards showcase examples of educational excellence in the North West.
We are delighted to offer an ever-growing range of extracurricular activities such as rugby, chess, textiles, drama and dance clubs. Participation in these activities not only enhances the physical wellbeing of our students but has also brought about a number of benefits, both socially and academically.
These extracurricular activities provide invaluable opportunities for our students to:
• Develop teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Improve physical fitness.
• Build lasting friendships, improve communication, and strengthen their ability to interact with peers.
• Boost academic performance: numerous studies have shown that students who engage in extracurricular activities often perform better academically.
We encourage all parents and carers to support their children in signing up for these activities, as they play a pivotal role in fostering a wellrounded and enriching educational experience.
Trips are a great way to expand our students’ learning experiences and during their time at school, our new students will be given plenty of opportunities to go to new places and see new things.
We also take great pride in recognising the achievements of our students, whether than be in award assemblies or end of year reward trips.
We are very proud of our uniform, and it is often remarked upon how smart our students look in their black and red uniforms. Students are expected to wear the full uniform every day and look smart both inside and outside school. Students will also receive a lanyard when they join us in September.
There are four different colours representing our values of Positivity, Ambition, Resilience, and Thoughtfulness. They are also a handy place for students to keep their timetable.
Year 7 uniform consists of:
• A black blazer with red trim and the school badge.
• A white shirt/blouse.
• School clip-on tie: no other type is permitted.
• Formal black school trousers or black school skirt - tube/body-con style skirts are not permitted.
• Flat, plain black shoes (boots and training shoes are not permitted).
• A school jumper, tank top or black cardigan may be worn underneath the blazer provided they are fine knit.
• Plain black or white below the knee socks or black tights.
• Phone pouch

We use the Class Charts app and it allows parents to view important information about their child’s daily interactions in school.
You can keep up to date with their behaviour and attendance, along with viewing assigned announcements and tracking homework tasks.
Teachers also use class charts to award positive points and by logging into the app, it is a great way for parents to see how well their child is doing.
Full details will be given at the start of term, including a unique code that is required to get started.
We have been a phone free school since September 2024.
Students will be providied with a pouch that they must bring to school every day, and all phones must be locked in the pouches before entering school.
We ask that parents help to ensure that all students look after their pouches, and have them in school at all times.
Over the course of the next few months, there will be a series of events and opportunities to visit the school to help students get more familiar with their new environment before they start in September. Full term details can be found on our website.
Places can be booked now for our welcome event on Wednesday 26th March, and details for the other events will be sent nearer the time.
