How hard the work would be
The amount of homework
I was worried about the Year 11s
Not making friends.
Getting bullied.
Getting trampled in the dining room
Getting detentions.
Getting lost
The size of the school
Meeting new people
Making friends
What was the best thing about coming to ‘Big School’?
Friends for life
Making new friends from different schools.
Range of lessons
Meeting new people and learning new subjects
Getting to know teachers
Learning new subjects
Leaving primary and starting to feel more grown up
If you could give one piece of advice to a Year 6 student, what would it be?
Take opportunities. Always be kind. Be open to new friendship groups. Make good friends
Try and relax, everyone is feeling the same
It's not as scary as it seems. There are LOTS of people who can help you if needed - including other students.
Join the clubs
Don't worry. You get used to everything really quickly and soon feel part of the school.
How would you reassure one of our Year 6 students who was feeling scared about coming to ‘big school’?
It's not as scary as you might think. Don't be afraid to ask for help. There are always people to help
Try not to worry, it will be fine. You'll be settled in in no time!
You'll soon learn where everything and everyone is. Older students are approachable and will help where they can or find someone who can help you. Just ask!
Enjoy the experience
It's not really that much different to primary school. After the first couple of weeks everything seems normal. The lessons aren't lots more difficult.
