Our pupils have agreed on the core concepts which underpin all subject areas taught at Oakfield Academy.
Your day will look a bit like this when you join us. We have Maths and English lessons in the morning.
Our school day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3pm.
KS3 (Year 7 & 8) have a break at 11.00-11.15 am and lunch 1.15 -2.00 pm.
Things you need to know part
• English is taught for 4 hours per week – this includes Library sessions.
• Maths is taught for 4 hours per week.
• Drama is taught weekly.
• Science is taught in the Labs. Their science knowledge is assessed throughout the year
• Pupils have chosen either French or Spanish. They will study this for 2 hours per week.
• There are 1 DT lessons each week. Resistant Materials and Food and Textiles.
• Homework is set across most subjects.
• Sports Leaders are chosen to help with PE activities.
• Pupils will no longer have drawers in tutor bases so will need to carry equipment around – there will be pegs for coats, PE bags etc.
• The end of the year exams test skills in English, Maths, History and Geography.

• Homework given weekly for English, maths and Science. Other subjects will set on a timetable
• KS3 Homework Club operates on 2 days a week after school.

Achievement points are awarded for excellent effort, positive learning behaviour and kindness to others.
When a pupil achieves 5 achievement points within a subject area they will receive a merit.
100 Achievement points = Bronze badge
200 Achievement Points = Silver badge
300 Achievement Points = Gold badge
400 Achievement Points = Platinum badge
Each badge achieved enables pupils to access different privileges which are decided upon by our Academy Council.
We use Arbor to communicate with parents. You can use the App to:
• Monitor your child’s attendance
• Inform us of your child’s absence
• Monitor behaviour (achievement and behaviour points)
• Email the school (this will be forwarded to the relevant staff)
• Receive information on trips, visits, curriculum changes etc.
