EYFS: Stay & Play
Thank You to the new parents who were able to attend the Stay & Play in EYFS to support their child’s transition in September. Lovely to spend some time with you, especially our new pupils who we are really excited to start developing key relationships with. We hope it was helpful. Welcome aboard.
Serious Safeguarding
Children are on restricted zones at lunch due to high risk of falling trees (we emailed you). Your children were brilliant in their understanding over this and in adhering to it at lunchtime. Please praise them on our behalf.
Do not access field. Do not access equipment. Do not go in the woodlands before or after school, parents.
FOES Curriculum +
By their very existence, FOES are a perfect example of Curriculum + (For Adults) in all that they do for our school, but we just loved this gorgeous photo of the Team.

As always, going that extra mile: this time, during the weekend, helping out at Bluntisham Beer Festival who will kindly donate to the cause. Thank You Bluntisham Beer Festival but Thank You, FOES. Giving your time so freely is one of the kindest donations of all.
Sid the Cygnet’s 5th Birthday: FOES Sponsored Walk: 4th July
Hopefully you have the sponsorship forms and can get involved? Monies raised goes into the FOES pot and will be spent on your child in some shape or form.
Look out for the route release letter the night before – it will be similar to last year but geographical clues this year for the pupils to solve. Aim to leave school: 10am ish. Fab.
YDP Inflatable
A start-of-the-week treat, courtesy of the school & YDP. Photos: HERE
We hope your child enjoyed their session.

Food Waste
Thanks to the children for being responsible in scraping just their food into this bin. Please reinforce importance.
Reminder: Hot, Hot, Hot…Slip, Slap, Slop
Hot Days
Lost Property
Is mounding up. Come & take a look!
As always, on hot days, feel free to send your child in, in their PE kit if it is supportive.
Sun Cream
Sun cream can be applied at home and/or pupils can bring it in, so long as they can apply it themselves and do not share with others (mindful of allergies, reactions to unfamiliar brands/types, for example).
Caps, Glasses etc
All perfectly fine provided we are wearing it for protection; not in lessons and not sharing/playing with our accessories – throwing our hats around the field, for example. Please reinforce.
Water Bottles
Are a must. We now have a bottle filler in the KS2 corridor which children have enjoyed accessing. Take the Shade
When the children hear me cry, they know what to do/where they can go. These mini shade breaks give us a chance, part-way through lunchtime, to feel our body signals & regulate accordingly –actioned multiple times in very hot weather.

Antony Highlights:
This week, Antony Class have continued to learn about stories from the past through the fable of The Hare and the Tortoise. It was lovely to hear the children retelling the story in their own words, using masks, puppets, and other resources to support their storytelling. The children also thought about what the Hare and the Tortoise might say to each other and produced some lovely writing in response.
Wenzel Highlights:
The highlight for Wenzel Class this week has been Outdoor Adventurous Activities. We have been focussing on ways of using non-verbal communication. On Tuesday, the children practised giving start and stop signals with their hands as well as miming how they wanted their partners to move and in which direction. The field was absolutely silent despite there being 15 busy pairs in action! On Thursday, we worked in our Houses to have children running, one at a time, to look at pictures of houses and trees before running back to record as much as they could remember in ten seconds. The Houses all listened to each other to add details until their pictures closely matched the original. We discussed how the ability to accurately describe and recognise landmarks can help us with making maps and trails.
Larwood Highlights:
A busy week in Larwood Class has seen us using switches to control the flow of electricity in a circuit; discover the causes of Japan's natural disasters; gliding in the pool in our first swimming lessons and learn about the Great Plague and its "cures". We have also had sew much fun using cross-stitch to start our embroidered bookmarks. The children have shown excellent resilience to practise and perfect a new and important life skill in sewing.
Rauf Highlights:

Rauf Class had a fantastic trip to Duxford War Museum, where we explored a range of artefacts linked to this year’s history topics. A real stand-out moment was meeting two veterans, who generously shared their experiences of wartime Britain and being a pilot in the RAF. Within this session, the children asked some thoughtful questions, which sparked some brilliant discussions about World War II and The Cold War. The whole day was a real engagement with history which brought our classroom learning to life. Photos HERE
