NPQEL Spring 2023: Registration Now Open Registration is now open for the Spring 23 NPQEL Cohort. NPQEL Spring 2023: UCL Additional Session looking at the Role of the CEO - 27th January 2023 The first date for the additional days to support to support the understanding of the CEO role will take place on 27th January 2023 at The Wrightington Hotel & Health Club, Moss Ln, Wrightington, Wigan WN6 9PB. The Latin Excellence Programme The Latin Excellence Programme will work with 40 non-selective state schools over four years to increase the 1 Winter 2015 uptake of and attainment in LatinNewsletter—Edition in state schools across England.

Participating schools will teach Latin at Key Stage 3, either on-timetable or as an extra-curricular provision, and (where relevant) launch Latin from-scratch at Key Stage 4, with the commitment to increasing participation year on year.

Why join the Latin Excellence Programme?

Schools joining the Latin Excellence Programme receive an extensive package of support including: • • • •

Funding: generous support to build a sustainable Latin provision, including teacher time.

Curriculum: a fully-resourced, evidenced-based Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum to support all students.

Enrichment: a broad range of exciting activities and trips for all students.

Expert tailored support: school visits from an assigned Lead Teacher six times per year.

Subject-specific CPD: delivered every half-term, tailored based on visits and focused on the curriculum and pedagogy.

Regional Hubs: support from local schools already on the programme, sharing best practice and leading training.

Why study Latin?

The Latin Excellence Programme curriculum is based on the principle of a classical education for all. The programme is delivered by Future Academies who have experience delivering Latin to thousands of students of all abilities and contexts since 2016, with very high rates of GCSE recruitment (between 25-50%).

The study of Latin grammar and vocabulary can be utilised to improve functional literacy and inform learning in English and MFL. The study of ancient civilisations gives students access to empowering and culturally valuable knowledge of myths, literature, history and art. The Latin Excellence Programme curriculum is based on the principle of a classical education for all.

As a GCSE, Latin is a challenging yet achievable. University admissions tutors and employers regard Latin very highly and it is seen as a clear indicator that students are capable of academic success.

We are delighted to offer the FULL suite of NPQ programmes in partnership with University College London.

The application window for the Spring 2023 NPQs is now open. Apply early to secure your first choice of programme. Consult the informationNewsletter—Edition below and then register1with the DfE NPQ Registration Service selecting UCL as Winter 2015 your national Lead Provider. Ensure you register your place no later than Thursday 12 January 2023. Once you have registered, within 5 days UCL will then provide you with a link to their short online enrolment form. Please complete the enrolment form by Sunday 15 January 2023.

Which NPQ should I choose?

Leading Teacher Development - designed for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading the development of other teachers in their school. They may have responsibilities for the development of all teachers across a school or specifically trainees or teachers who are early in their career.

Leading Teaching - designed for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading teaching in a subject, year group, key stage or phase.

Leading Behaviour and Culture - designed for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading behaviour and/or supporting pupil wellbeing in their school.

Leading Literacy - this programme will develop participants’ expertise in leading literacy by developing a deep understanding of evidence-based practice in language reading and writing.

Senior Leadership - designed for school leaders who are, or are aspiring to be, a senior leader with cross-school responsibilities.

Headship - designed for school leaders who are, or are aspiring to be, a headteacher or head of school with responsibility for leading a school.

Early Years Leadership- designed for early years leaders qualified to at least Level 3 with full and relevant qualifications working in a wide range of Early Years (EY) settings including Private, Voluntary or Independent (PVI) with leadership responsibilities.

Early Headship Coaching Offer - this bespoke programme consists of tailored resources, coaching and peer networking opportunities to support ongoing professional development and wellbeing. The additional support offer is designed for those in their first five years of headship.

Executive Leadership - designed for school leaders who are, or are aspiring to be, an executive headteacher or a school trust CEO with responsibility for leading several schools.

Scholarship update The DfE has now extended funded training scholarships for all NPQs for the next two years, to support participants undertaking NPQs in 22/23 and 23/24. DfE funded scholarships are available for all teachers and leaders employed in state funded schools and state funded organisations that offer 16-19 places in England.

Applicants should discuss with their line manager before applying, recognising that the programmes require a significant commitment from both schools and participants.
