The Lone SENDCO answers over 300 questions that SENDCOs grapple with, whether experienced or new: How should outcomes be worded? Do I get longer to respond if I receive a consultation in the holidays? How shall I structure my inclusion department? How do I assess SEND for a child with EAL? How should I be working with my school’s Careers Officer? How do I motivate disengaged learners? What do Ofsted look for in an inspection? Split helpfully into easily-workable sections, this reference Newsletter—Edition 1 Winter 2015 book can be picked up and dipped into, whatever the priority.

The Education Committee has launched a new inquiry into persistent absence and support for disadvantaged pupils The inquiry will look at factors causing persistent and severe absence among different groups of pupils, in particular: • Disadvantaged pupils • Pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds • Pupils with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), and those who are clinically vulnerable to Covid-19 • Pupils in alternative provision It will also look at how schools and families can be better supported to improve attendance, and how this affects pupils and families who are clinically vulnerable to Covid-19. This includes: • The impact of the Department for Education’s proposed reforms to improve attendance.

• The impact of school breakfast clubs and free school meals on improving attendance for disadvantaged pupils.

• The role of the holiday activities and food programme and other after-school and holiday clubs, such as sports, in improving attendance and engagement with school.

We urge all our Heads to put forward their concerns/ideas for the consultation via the link above.

What makes our NPQs special?

We use small group coaching to help you apply your learning. We lead in an ethical way with values at the heart of everything we do. We have great relationships with local delivery partners who will support the group to build local networks.

How much time will I need out of school?

Our NPQs are a blend of online and face-to-face learning. There are 4-5 face-to-face days or half days across the course, approximately one per term depending on the course. You will need to be out of school for these days.

You will have a 90-minute webinar for each unit from 4.00 - 5.30pm.

You will also have one 90-120 minute coaching session per term; usually out of school hours.
