PUPIL VOICE

WHAT IS PUPIL VOICE?
Pupil voice gives you the opportunity to play an active role in decisions that affect you. You can plan and review the actions you have taken as well as taking responsibility for how this will happen.

Article 12 - Respect for the child's views: When adults make decisions that affect children, children have the right to say what they think should happen and that their views are taken into account.
WHY SHOULD I HAVE MY SAY?
Pupil voice encourages you to become active members in a democratic society.

Pupil Voice at KGS helps develop skills, such as collaboration and communication, and encourages pupils to take responsibility for their decisions.
Pupils involved in making decisions benefit in a variety of different ways: increased confidence, self-esteem, ability and a greater sense of responsibility.
Democratic society – a place where everyone's opinions matter.
PUPIL VOICE STRUCTURE

Our School Captains - Pupil Voice Chairpersons
I'm Rowan and I'm one of the School Captains. I am studying Biology, Geography and Economics, at A level. I still haven't fully decided what I will do after Kirkham, but know it will be somewhere in the gym and wellness space. I also am very near to completing my Gold DofE, which is an amazing way to conclude my awesome 13 years at Kirkham. Last year, I was a pupil voice leader for the Community committee.

I’m Trishala, one of the school captains. I am studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science. I am also a member of the school’s choir and an NCO cadet with the RAF. Last year, I was the pupil voice leader for the school’s Eco committee alongside other commitments. This year I am in the process of completing my Gold DofE award, and I aspire to work in computer science and AI research.
Over the next academic year we look forward to listening to everyone's ideas on how we can improve all aspects of life at Kirkham. We hope to do this by providing a space where every student feels comfortable and involved with decisions made around school. We want to make sure that every sub committee is heard and all pupils have an equal opportunity to share their ideas.
Our School Vice Captains - Pupil Voice Chairpersons
I’m Leoma, one of the vice captains. I have attended Kirkham Grammar School since the age of 3, 15 years! I am currently studying Fine Art, Design Engineering, and Business Studies for my A levels. Last year, I was an anti-bullying representative, helped to run the lower school art club along with the junior school art club, and I had the wonderful opportunity to take on the role of a pupil voice leader for the community committee. This year I am working towards completing my Gold DofE. Once I leave school, I hope to study architecture, whether that be through university or a degree apprenticeship. I look forward to working alongside the other school captains to continue to improve the place that I call home!

I am George and I am also one of the vice captains here at KGS. I have attended KGS since I3 at the junior school. I am currently studying A level Music, Maths, Chemistry and an AS in Further Maths. Over my time in the senior school my roles have included antibullying representative, Pupil voice leader for the cocurricular committee and I am a very active part of our Music Department. On top of this I have recently finished my Gold DofE. My ambitions after KGS are currently undecided however my options include becoming a professional musician or even becoming a pilot.
And most importantly…
