The following activities are split into different categories, some practical, some written and some creative etc. You have the CHOICE of what you would like to do. Practical task- It is important you complete the task in your P.E. kit or other appropriate dance wear. Written task- Hand write, type or present in any creative way you wish. Please put these into your ‘Ideas’ book. Creative task- Present however you like draw it, write it out or even make it. Please keep these safe for September.

Write an article/ create a poster for "The Dancing Times" based on a choreographer of your choice. Include lots of detail about their work and the methods they use when creating Rep. Here are some examples: • Itzik Galili • Kendrick ‘H2O’ Sandy
Task 1: Imagine that the audience are watching your performance with a bird's eye view. Can you create a short motif using the ‘Just Dance’ resource provided that would be interesting seen from above. Task 2: Discuss and explain why you chose the following actions, space, dynamics and relationships and how the motif you’ve created would be interesting seen from above.
Use the resource as a guide. Task 1: Draw a floor plan of your house featuring all the rooms and corridors. Create an imaginary trip around your house and the possible things that you would do in each room.
For example brushing your teeth in the bathroom or cooking in the kitchen. Add different gestures and travelling movements to create your piece using space. Task 2: Make supporting notes in any way you wish showing the creative journey you’ve been on in the creation of your movement phrase.
Research the roles of a: Professional Dancer, Choreographer, Set/Lighting Designer and Costume Designer. Find out the importance of each role when working on a production and what different skills they need.

Task 1: Begin an “Ideas" book/folder with a focus on the subject Dance. Fill it with pictures/drawings of your favourite dance styles/lifts, different dance routines, costume ideas and pieces of music that inspire you. Continue to add to this working document in the coming weeks.
Task 2: Design your very own costume for a piece called ‘Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.’
Research into a variety of different ‘Choreographic Processes,’ you could use when creating a dance. Areas to consider: • Chance Dance? (Choreography Challenge!) • Collage Technique? (Give it a go!) • (Contact) Improvisation? • Collaboration with dancers? • Stimuli? Stimulus work?
