Phonics and Early Reading

At Bradshaw, we use Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised to teach phonics and early reading.

This complete phonics programme draws on the latest research into how children learn best; how to ensure learning stays in children’s long term memory and how best to enable children to apply their learning to become highly competent readers.

Preschool Transition

To ensure the best possible transition for your child into school, Mrs Calder has conducted visits to preschools to speak to practitioners and meet some of the children.
On the first visit, we would like you to stay with your child to explore their new learning environment together and ask any questions that you may have.
To continue getting to know you and your child, we have 3 Connect sessions in school over the next 3 weeks.
On the second and third visits, we would like your child to attend alone to enable them to begin to build their independence around the new environment and begin to get to know their new teachers and friends.
