It has been another incredible but exhausting year at Bishop Martin and we have so much to celebrate about our wonderful pupils and your amazing children! In a year and an atmosphere nationally within education that is uncertain to say the least, it is remarkable that the team here carried on calmly, utterly committed to providing the very best for the children in our care. The impact of this is shown clearly from a Standards point of view:

   

Record Phonics results Consistent and predicted EYFS results Great KS1 results (the first on the post 2014 curriculum)

KS2 results that are way above the national average and make us one of the top attaining primary schools in the town. These results are truly representative of the outstanding teaching and learning which takes place on a day to day basis here at Bishop Martin. It is testament to the team here that with such a huge national focus on English and Maths, we manage to maintain an inspiring, thematic curriculum that the children simply love. As always here at Bishop Martin, our focus remains on the needs of the whole pupil, academically, spiritually and pastorally. As well as our Y6 leavers, we say goodbye and thank you to both Mrs Davies’, Mrs Hayes, Ms Wilkie, Mrs Brislen, Mr Patton, Miss Berry, Mr Morris, Mrs O’Connor and Mrs Chase. All staff members, whatever their role in school over the years, have contributed so much to the community of Bishop Martin and we wish them well. In September we will be welcoming 3 new teachers on a full time basis: Mr Dawe, Miss Bond and Miss Doncaster. It has been an absolute privilege to lead the school in Mrs Gray’s absence and I would like to take this opportunity thank all of you for your support and for entrusting your children into our care. We hope you and your families have a happy, safe and sunny summer break and we look forward to seeing you all again in September. From Mr McDonald and all the staff Y6 children leaving for High School Well done to the Y6 children who have achieved fabulous results in their SATs test this year, made us proud and entertained us with their stunning performances in sport and on stage. We wish you all the very best for the future and hope you remember your time at Bishop Martin with happy memories.
