Lomeshaye Life The term has passed so quickly and now it is time for our final break before the last half term of the year begins. Read on to find out about what has been happening in school over the last two weeks and what is coming up after the holidays. Seedhill Athletics— This week pupils in Year 6 attended the Seedhill Athletics track as part of their PE lesson. This opportunity is great for our pupils as it allows them to experience a real life athletics venue where they can learn and practice new skills. It also helps them to prepare for the school sports day which will be happening on 11th July. Park Visit, Year 4 and 5— All pupils in Years 4 and 5 have made recent visits to the local park to help them with their learning in Science. These park visits are essential in helping children to learn about the natural environment and to observe changes that happen in the different seasons of the year. I was most pleased to hear of some excellent behaviour from the children while they were out representing our school in the local community. Marsden Heights Transition— Year 6 pupils have had two visits recently from staff at Marsden Heights Community College as part of their transition work to get them ready for high school. Pupils that will be attending Marsden Heights from September have met some members of staff and found out about what it is like to be at high school and who will be there to help and work with them once they start school in Year 7. Other schools will come to work with children that will be attending their settings over the next few weeks and there will also be special transition days in June and July where children will spend a full day at their new school. Marsden Heights STEM Project— Pupils in Year 5 have taken part in a special Science, Technology and Engineering project with staff at Marsden Heights this week. The children attended as they have a special interest or aptitude for Science and this project was a good way to encourage their skills and talents. The pupils had a great time and again they represented our school so well making us all very proud of them. Road to Rio Workshop— This half term pupils across school have been working on an Olympic theme, drawing together all areas of the curriculum by learning about the Olympics and different countries. As part of this theme everyone in school was able to take part in a very special dance workshop, which culminated in an amazing whole school performance at the end of last week. Leading Parent Partnership Award— Last week Mrs. Maureen Nash from came to assess the school to see if we could be awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) for the third time. The assessment is to decide if what we offer and provide for parents and the community is of an excellent standard which they can recognise. The assessment went fantastically well and the work of Mrs. Safdar in school was highly commended. At Lomeshaye we strive to work in partnership with our parents and love for you to be involved in school life. Please continue to work with us and learn with us in the future.
