The Most Beautiful Retirement and Nursing Homes – A Regional Selection

Alternative living concepts are very much in vogue. More and more people are opting to live in residential homes where they can enjoy the overall service while keeping their independence and flexibility. “People who move into a residential home do so in order to experience a balance of independence, community and security,” says marketing manager Bettina Reindl from KWA Wohnen im Alter, which operates 14 residential homes nationwide; six of them in the Munich area alone. Elderly people who want to remain independent, who are looking for high-class services, above-average living conditions and first-class nursing care are in good hands in KWA’s residential homes, as Reindl con64 |

firms: “The credo ‘Living. The way I want to.’ applies to all our homes. The residents can decide which services they want to use and to what extent they wish to participate in the community. Our residential homes are marked by reliable housekeeping services and excellent gastronomy, including star chefs. We emphasise a focus on culture; each residential home organises concerts, readings and lectures, for example. Those who want to stay active can use the on-site sports facilities such as the pool or gym. We also provide physiotherapeutic care and podiatry. Some of our homes even have their own hairdressers and a small grocery shop. Our international healthcare teams help residents from abroad to quickly settle in.”

If more intensive support or care is needed, KWA offers a tailored nursing-concept. “Our 24/7 outpatient nursing service is particularly well received. Here, KWA residential homes can respond very individually to the residents’ needs, e.g. by providing individual care or palliative support,” assures the marketing manager. This is a significant benefit as it may prove difficult to move to another facility at a certain age. Many elderly people are reluctant to move out of their own houses; they have difficulties adapting to a new living environment. Here, KWA provides valuable support: “For those who are undecided, we offer ‘Holidays in a Residential Home’ or a trial residence. This allows interested parties to assess our services themselves in everyday life, and decide whether living in a residential home meets their needs.” www.kwa.de

Society has undergone significant changes in recent decades. Age no longer implies belonging to the ‘old guard.’ Many older people now travel more, engage in volunteer work, or discover new passions. With their wide range of services, residential homes are the perfect base for an active lifestyle.
