The base for aesthetics is health Many of us only go to the dentist when we have a toothache. The annual checkup often then turns into aftercare: dealing with the damage instead of preventing it. Because of this, the DGÄZ-certified specialist for aesthetics and function in dental medicine, Dr Beate Jürgens, and her team, offer a cohesive concept and coach patients to efficiently clean their teeth with the SOLO-method at home. For over 20 years, Dusseldorf-based dental practice, Familienzahnarztpraxis Dr Beate Jürgens & Partner, has been an excellent address to go to for beautiful and healthy teeth. Since 2017, the practice, run by Dr Jürgens and Dr Hörmann, has been continuously honoured as TOP medical expert by Focus. Together with a team of specialists, they continue to help patients to achieve a healthy and bright smile. The dentists always look at the entire human being. To them, aesthetic procedures only make sense if the oral cavity is healthy, which makes every procedure more predictable. The practice offers preventative check-ups and individual medicine of the highest medical standard, as 20 | Issue 80 | November 2019
well as the whole range of modern procedures to aesthetically improve the natural smile. This includes veneers, bleaching, minimally invasive composite techniques and implants. In 2003, Dr Jürgens was the first German female dentist to be DGÄZ-certified as a specialist for aesthetics and function in dental medicine. She emphasises that her focus is on restoring the health of her patients’ oral cavity. “The smile is only a subtask of the teeth,” Dr Jürgens says. “It’s of course particularly important that they are fully functional. Teeth need to be in an environment free from inflammation. However, the truth is that globally, 80 per cent of people have
periodontitis and caries. That’s where our team comes in. The reason for those diseases are multiple bacteria in the oral cavity. Obviously, we perform state-ofthe-art tooth-cleaning, but the bacteria multiply every 24 hours, making the mouth ill. That means we have to educate our patients so that they can effectively look after their teeth at home, too.” The expert sees the key in the SOLO prophylaxis method. Differently sized, normed interdental brushes are used to clean each tooth individually and also to properly clean the areas where most bacteria are present: in the interdental spaces. “Only healthy teeth can look aesthetically good,” the passionate dentist adds. “That’s why we try and inform our patients, so that they can work on their health first – afterwards, we cater to all aesthetic wishes, with anything that modern dental medicine offers.” www.familien-zahnarzt-duesseldorf.de
